“Unique Location”

My trip was marred by some of the worst summer weather imaginable and this challenges the suitability of the property. I am fairly hardy and knew what to expect so it wasn't too bad.

Things you need to know:
1. About 8 miles off the public road along a rough track. 4x4 not necessary but expect 30 minutes to cover the distance.
2. Parking is a little distance from the property over a rickety suspension bridge (quite safe but awaiting repair). Gear was transported by Land Rover over a ford when I arrived.
3. Warm welcome. I met Maddy, Iona and Andrea - all very relaxed and extremely helpful.
4. Bird life abounds including a few rarities.
5. Walks straight from the door ranging from whole day treks to just a couple of miles. A mountain bike helps if you can bring one.
6. The cottage is basic but fairly spacious.

This is a remote setting and don't expect mod cons. No TV but you can get a radio signal. No mobile phone or internet but a landline is available for emergency use.

“Dont hesitate, book the cottage or lodge.”

if you want somewhere isolated yet amazingly friendly and helpful hosts, this is for you, either as a group in the lodge, or a small group in the cottage..My son has been visiting since he was 4, now 12 and still loves it. I have been both as a group of walkers and as a family since 1994.
Apart from getting food you have enough walks and things to do for a week without getting into your car,,,Do visit James Hawkins at Rhue Gallery,,a must.
enjoy
