Mark and Diane greeted us on arrival and showed us round the cottage that has everything you need and the home made jam is delicious! The location is wonderful for walking and we really enjoyed our stay. A visit to the Mull of Galloway is a must on a sunny day, truly beautiful.
Loved our stay at Kirkland Farm. Made to feel very welcome with the initial tour of cottage and farm and appreciated the basket of goodies - the freshly laid eggs, homemade jam and biscuits! Thank you they were lovely! The cottage was well presented and had everything you needed and more. The location was perfect. We loved visiting the local area and will definitely be back - this is definitely the cottage we will come back to Thanks again x
Penkiln Cottage is a delightful and spacious, well equipped cottage.
At the end of a lane the cottage is peaceful and has immediate access onto fields and fine views.
The owners are both attentive and discreet.
We loved our 2 weeks staying at the cottage and found the surrounding area beautiful to explore.
Brilliant cottage in lovely surroundings, amazing wildlife on the doorstep (literally). Lovely hosts, ideal location for visiting local attractions but also many superb walks from the door and walking distance from town centre.
Backdrop of the hills and Knockman woods, sound of the burn close by, couldn't have wished for a nicer place to relax and recharge.
Hope to return in the not too distant future
This really is a lovely cottage set in beautiful surroundings. I was surprised at just how equipped the cottage was - everything we needed and more. The milk, jam and biscuits were a lovely surprise when we arrived, the jam was particularly delicious. Mark was there to welcome us and gave us a quick tour around the cottage and farm, answering any questions we had. There is lots to do in the area and we kept ourselves very busy over our 3 night stay. There's a circular walk around the back of the farm (with an old castle ruin just off the track) that we all enjoyed, especially seeing the wild deer. The church yard at the top of the path to the farm is also worth exploring, as is the Wood of Cree a few miles away where there are some beautiful waterfalls. We spent a lot of time in the Galloway Forrest (absolutely stunning scenery) and visited Mossyard Beach, Monrith Animal World (near Port William) and Threave Castle (Castle Douglas). All in all we had a fabulous break and couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. Thank you to Mark and Dianne for being fantastic hosts and making us feel so welcome :-)
