Dear Guest .
It was great to meet you both , and we all enjoyed you visit here with us at Kirkland Farm . We are glad you enjoyed your visit to Newton Stewart and the surrounding area, and we hope you managed to fit all of your Clan Gathering functions in. It was a pleasure to take you out and about to visit Port Patrick and the Kildonnan Estate, along with a few other places . We hope you will be able to return some day .
Kind Regards Mark and Diane .

“Great location, lovely cottage, good value”
Reviewed 24 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

The cottage is at Kirkland Farm a 15 minute walk from the centre of Newton Stewart which is itself a centrally located to explore the region. The cottage is very well equipped and comfortable, in such a way that made it a practical base rather some cottages which feel basic and temporary and almost force you to eat elsewhere. We were made to feel welcome by the owners who met us on arrival and had provided a basket of a few essentials and treats. The location meant we were within 15 minutes of 2 Galloway Forest Commission visitor centres ideal for walking and biking, and no more than an hour from a whole range of other attractions in the area that easily filled a week's stay. For what it offers, it represents great value. A point of note is that you can get 3G reception on the EE network - a little variable but good enough to check the weather forecast and emails.

“Comfortable cottage, good location, and warm welcome.”
Reviewed 18 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

Just had a lovely short break at Penkiln cottage. The cottage was warm, nicely furnished and well equipped, it's set on a peaceful farm with lovely views and forest walks from the door. Being on the edge of the Dark Skies Park, the night sky was brilliant - was great to sit out the back and spot shooting stars. Also fun spotting the resident barn owls in the evening.

Newton Stewart is a good base to explore Galloway from: quiet sandy beaches, rugged coastline, forests, castles and gardens.

Thanks Mark and Dianne for making us so welcome.

Dear Guest.
Glad to see you had a lovely time here with us at Kirkland Farm. We do have some pretty spectacular night skies in Dumfries & Galloway . We are one of only three designated Dark Sky areas in the world . Many thank's for taking the time to review us , and we hope to welcome you back in the very near future .

“Lovely cottage”
Reviewed 8 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

This is a lovely well equipped cottage close to Newton Stewart. It has a rural setting with a great fishing lake close by. Excellent hospitality, great value for money. We stayed to be close to the mountain bike centre and it was perfect. Definitely recommend. You could walk into Newton Stewart from the property, probably a 15-20 minute walk.

“Brilliant Accommodation and Excellent Location”
Reviewed 26 March 2015 for a stay in March 2015

We stayed at the cottage from 11th to 15th March 2015 and had a wonderful time. We took our two springers with us. Mark greeted us and gave us a guided tour around the cottage and the farm itself.

Mark & Diane were most helpful in suggestion places to visit especially having the dogs with us. We were made to feel most welcome throughout our stay. The rooms are decorated to a high standard and were exceptionally clean. The photos don't do the cottage justice!

The cost for the 4 nights was very reasonable and we would recommend the cottage to anyone; whether you've got children or dogs with you, you'll find everything that you need.

We hope to return later this year!!
