Owner description: The Ark is a wildlife park with a difference. It is home to over 180 animals, almost all of whom have been rescued. Among them are some of the world's most exotic creatures, including. Eurasian lynx, a caiman crocodile and an Arctic fox - as well as meerkats, coatis, raccoons, wallabies, snakes, goats, rabbits and many more! There's also a play park for the kids and an excellent cafe.
Useful Information: Activities for young children, Wheelchair access, Food available for purchase, Bathroom facilities, Activities for older children

We had a really good afternoon at ARK with extended family today - teenagers, younger children, parents, grandparents. It was interesting to see and read about such a wide variety of animals and to know that they are well cared-for after past mistreatment or illegal keeping in the pet trade. The Reptile Encounter was a particular highlight for many in our group and the relaxed atmosphere during that, which encouraged all the children there to speak out and join in, was lovely.
In general it was a very busy day for the staff but they remained calm, friendly and relaxed and nothing was too much trouble. Particular mention should go to the café staff who really were rushed off their feet. I’ve been to a lot of these sort of places over the last 15 years of parenthood and it’s not always the case that you find polite, professional, cheerful staff especially at busy holiday times. In addition the food is a cut above most similar venues - there’s a good range of hot and cold meals, all freshly prepared on the premises (we were able to get sandwiches made without butter, for instance) and the food is of a high standard and good value. Vegetable chilli comes highly recommended, as do the homemade cakes.

One additional point I’d like to make is that the photo left by the previous reviewer (5th April) is entirely unrepresentative of this place. It is the view from inside the Activity Barn which is set slightly away from the indoor enclosures. The outdoor animals are nearby but not visible from this angle. It’s a mean picture to post to try and paint an inaccurate idea of the park.

We drove 3 hrs from Oxford so as my daughter could take part in the fox experience. It was worth every minute of the drive!!! Not only does the park do a great job looking after the rescued animals, but the staff are engaging and passionate. If you're nearby it's worth going there just to know that your money is going to a good and worthy cause. If you want to partake in one of their animal encounters, rest assured that you'll be doing it with a member of staff who absolutely adores and cares for your chosen animal. A brilliant park (not a zoo) that is doing a great deal for ill chosen pets.

I attended the Ark wildlife park today with my wife and small child. I came for the fox experience and it did not disappoint. The animals look well cared for and all the staff we came in contact with were very warm and friendly. The lady looking after the reptiles gave a really interesting talk and we were able to touch a few of the lovely reptiles too.
The fox experience itself was something I had always wanted to do and it was as good as I hoped. The foxes themselves were lovely little creatures and Jamie was very knowledgable and accommodating.
There is a small cafe. We had a panini a baguette tea and some chocolate cake. All of which were very nice and reasonably priced. Would definitely visit again.

Up and coming place. Saving abandoned animals. Staff really friendly, had a group talk informing us of Matilda the snake and Bluey the lizard. The meerkats were fun and posing for photos. Had a lovely time.

This is the loveliest place. Hands on experiences and at feeding time the animals just come alive. Although fairly new great improvements are being made all the time. Our camera club had a visit from Jamie with some reptiles...nothing was too much trouble. The animals are so well cared for and loved you can feel it. Perfect place to visit with little ones. Excellent job being done here.
