Sadly we were disappointed with our lunch. The service was very slow. Ordering is via an app & payment is made at the point of ordering. Ok I guess if you are IT confident but a nightmare if not. It was time consuming and makes the assumption that everyone has a smart phone. Our food was just OK. My sons steak came without the sauce & mushrooms, by the time this was rectified his meal was cold. My husbands pie and mash was only just warm. My daughter-in-law & I had salad, it was OK but not as good as last time, it would have been improved with a balsamic dressing. No cash payments accepted which I find most annoying. It’s a lovely setting but the lack of service, mistakes in delivery & the complicated ordering will mean we will not return.

Egypt Mill was our first pit stop on our mini moon. Booking was easy and we were directed to our seat with no problems. It was a Sunday so we were excited at the prospect of our first roast as a married couple!
My starter, the ham hock and cheese croquettes were outstanding. My wife had the mussels and was impressed. We decided to have the roast chicken for two as a main. Whilst it wasn’t terrible, carving a bird smothered in gravy whilst sat at a relatively small table for two was far from ideal. The meat itself was okay and the very generous portion of potatoes was great. The stuffing wasn’t the best but nicely cooked pigs in blankets. We were slightly disappointed that the veg was mainly roasted beetroot- why is this fashionable all of a sudden?

All in all we left pretty happy but won’t order the roast for two again- despite it seeming like a good idea at first.

Great food. Staff ensured I had a choice of gluten free starters and main meals. Most restaurants do not offer this and the gluten free choice is non-existent. Excellent service and a really enjoyable birthday meal. Online booking with immediate response so reservations are easy to arrange.
