“Excellent Location in charming Lyme Regis”
Reviewed 11 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

This cottage is fantastic. The location is perfect to watch the world go by. The cottage has all the usual rental fixtures and fittings and more! The kitchen had more pots, pans and utensils than I have at home, making food preparation easy. The living room is a lovely light and fresh room with the advantage that you can keep warm and still have lovely views on the stormy days. Lyme Regis was a charming place that had loads of hidden gems - I recommend a visit to the tourist information on the front - they were very helpful. A tour of the mill is also very good. The hill to the car park is steep but I knew that before visiting so did not mind, plus we hardly had to use the car as Lyme Regis has so much to offer.

“No finer way to spend Christmas and the Holidays”
Reviewed 6 January 2015 for a stay in December 2014

Our daughter lives about 30 minutes north of Lyme Regis, and Lyme Regis is her family's favorite spot. Being right on the beach in this beautifully appointed 3-bedroom home with lovely ocean and town views was like a dream come true. We were fortunate to have warm days AND rainy days to experience the beauty and splendor of the Lyme Regis town and beach. The people are so friendly. The owners and their property manager make this a magical spot for anyone wanting to get away to the ocean.

“Great location and very cosy”
Reviewed 13 November 2014 for a stay in November 2014

Situated next to the sea, this is a cosy place to stay in Lyme Regis. Wonderful views of the Cobb and close to all amenities. We ate out so unable to comment on cooking facilities but the house is well organised. The stairs to the top bedroom would be difficult for less mobile people. Recommended.

“Wonderful position with lovely seaviews”

Five of us stayed at Cobb Gate Cottage in June/July and had a lovely time. The cottage is in a brilliant position with fantastic views across the pebble beach to the sea. When the crowds go home, you can walk out with a cup of tea or a glass of wine and it is like having your own personal beach. For anyone who likes to swim, there is a clear swim line across the bay and you could literally walk out of the door and be swimming out into the bay in moments.
We had my parents with us who are both in their eighties. We were able to park right outside when necessary with Dad's Blue Badge and he could enjoy level walks up and down the front, without too many steps.
Amy, the agent was really helpful in answering our last minute questions.
The cottage is clean and comfortable; well decorated and well equipped but I don't think this is quite a 'five star' holiday let. At a first look, the sitting room looks great, but the leather sofas are quite worn and covered with throws, which slip off all the time. I found myself repeatedly trying to make them look tidy and prevent anyone from tripping over them.
The upstairs bedroom is brilliant, but as mentioned by another reviewer, the stairs are narrow and steep. The third bedroom is really only suitable for children - the mattresses are not the same quality as elsewhere and not comfortable for an adult. The room is a bit dark and has no view other than the walls of the adjacent property.
So, not quite five star but still a brilliant place to stay, which we would thoroughly recommend and would happily return to ourselves.
As far as Lyme Regis goes, I would just say that food shopping is limited - there is a small Tesco, couple of delis and bakeries. There is an excellent cheese shop in the Town Mill, great fresh fish down at the Cobb end of town and also wonderful seafood from the little stall at that end (we bought the best, fattest cockles we've ever eaten and fried them up with fresh sole and prawns as part of a tapas). Another time I would shop before I arrived to save trips up to the supermarket in Axminster.

Management Response
9 Aug 2014
Thank you for your review. We are glad you had an enjoyable week at Cobb Gate Beach House.

You may be pleased to know that all the sofas in the living room were replaced with new ones at the beginning of July.

With regards to food shopping in Lyme, some guests have arranged for a supermarket delivery upon their arrival which works quite well.

Kind regards
Amy

“Best Possible Place to Stay - Stunning”

Our week at Cobb Gate is almost indescribably wonderful. The cottage itself is beautiful, comfy, fully equipped and impeccably maintained. The location of the cottage is stunning. Through a private gate from the Marine Parade and up a flight of stairs to the front door patio leads you to a perfect perch for people watching on the parade. They don't even realize you are there. The outdoor patio with views of the bay and the Cobb are always specular with boats of all kind going in and out of the harbor. We never tired of watching the little ones on the beach with their parents. At nightfall, the Marine Parade deserted, and any people noise stopped - just the gentle sound of the surf. With the sun, breezes, views, sounds, museums and restaurants, it was difficult to get out and explore any place else but Lyme Regis. By the way, parking on the road below the cottage to load and unload was no problem, and the short walk to the car park became an opportunity to drink in the ambiance and architecture of this wonderful seaside town.
