First impressions were at odds with the website photos. The building looks tired and tatty, but you don’t see that in any of the website photos...some may think they’re misleading.
Staff were all nice and service was good.
Our room was small but it was clean and had nice views, save for the kitchen extractor and smoking area smells. The bedroom door latch didn’t quite “fit” so it woke us up a few times, rattling, overnight.
Dinner was good, but breakfast was disappointing. It had clearly been”kept warm” but only just...therer were a couple of inedible items. Quantity was small, but fair for the price.
The interior is a country pub and its showing its age but I guess the location doesn’t mean there’s much passing traffic & it appears to be a community shop too so the commercials probably don’t allow for a modernisation/fit out.
All in all, as the summary says it wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great either.

Thank you for taking time to post a review of your stay, and for understanding that we are a small village inn rather than a corporate hotel with lots of passing trade. We have a small team of staff. which unfortunately does not include a gardener so finding time to spruce up the exterior during a very busy summer is difficult. I am very sorry that your breakfast was disappointing, we do try to manage timings for breakfast since there is just one person to deal with orders, cooking and serving. Pre-ordering, with a breakfast time, helps us to provide this meal in a timely manner, essential for those of our guests who need to get on with their, often working, day. I apologise if your breakfast was cooked before you were actually ready for it, perhaps the "timing" was not as important for yourselves and we should have realised this. Thanks for the appreciation of our staff, they are a good team and the welcome they provide to guests is genuine. There really is nothing we can do about the kitchen extractor, and moving smokers away from the building would probably not be popular with them.

A bit off the beaten track but a good value B&B. Lots to see in the location and great walks. A good weekend away. One obvious advantage is choosing whether you want breakfast or not. While there try a visit to Dartmouth.

Have been many times and always love it here. An exceptional community pub with a fantastic selection of locals!
Our first year of Worm Charming which was great fun and then to the pub which was the heart of it all. Food and drinks, as always, first class and brilliant entertainment. Best day (out) we’ve had in ages.
