We rented this property with another couple primarily as a base to watch the Scottish Open golf at Gullane and also to explore the area which was new to us. The house was absolutely perfect for this. A brand new property, very comfortable and very well furnished throughout with everything required for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Parking for two cars just outside the front door was a bonus. The location on the outskirts of North Berwick is just a short five minute drive into the town centre and with easy access to all the other interesting towns and villages in the area. Apart from a fantastic day watching the golf, we had a great time visiting Dirleton Castle (beautiful), Tantallon Castle (awesome) and the boat trip out to Bass Rock to see the Gannet colony was a spectacle more than equal to any wildlife programme we’ve seen on the T.V. The owner Moira was a pleasure to deal with and answered all our questions and provided us with the information we required to find our way around. The information pack in the house was very helpful and directed us to some excellent restaurants and coffee shops in the area. We couldn’t try them all this time but we did enjoy all the ones we did manage to get to (good pub grub at the Dirleton Castle Inn, excellent fish and chips at the North Berwick Fryer and a super evening out at The Puffin restaurant). All in all we had a wonderful four days and are really looking forward to going back again soon.
