“Beautiful Cottage & Perfect Location”

My girlfriend and I were fortunate enough to spend a weekend at The Old Piggery, and were extremely impressed with its cosy feel and beautifully rustic interior. The furniture and appliances are in general of very high quality, making the cottage easy and convenient to live in. We were particularly impressed with the kitchen, which is equipped with everything you could need possibly to prepare and cook just about anything. The owners were friendly but unobtrusive, leaving us to live in the cottage as if it were our own, yet we also felt able to contact them if we needed anything. We had a wonderful weekend and didn't want to leave!

“Great choice for us”

We recently spent 6 nights in the Old Piggery. And we were very comfortable there. Furniture and equipment generally were high quality, well cared for and comfortable. The bathroom was very well specced. And (all too rare in our experience), the kitchen really was fully equipped, giving us pretty much full rein to cook whatever we wanted (instruction manuals for equipment on hand too). The owners were unobtrusive but on hand if we needed them. We also appreciated the wine and biscuits which the owners left for us on arrival – a really sweet touch.

Being able to walk to Ickworth House was a treat (5 min stroll to the gates, then a 15 min walk along the estate drive to the House itself). Several other interesting places (including Wyken, Lavenham and Long Melford, as well as Cambridge, Newmarket and Bury St Edmunds) are within easy reach. Horringer has a couple of pubs/restaurants (which we didn’t try). The nearest shops are in Bury St Edmunds.

“The Old Piggery.Really lovely.Everything, and more, we could have asked for!”

We were fortunate to spend a whole month in the Old Piggery. We've had many stays in various self-catering accommodation, but never in as luxuriously equipped, functional, comfortable and truly welcoming as this. From our "welcome" wine, lovely biscuits and flowers, to the bright, clean and welcoming atmosphere in the property itself, it truly was lovely to arrive. Comfortable bed, top quality bathroom, linen and towels and all the other equipment are to a very high standard. The owners, Caroline and Phil, couldn't have been nicer or more helpful and were "there" without being obtrusive. The location is superb, backing onto Ickworth house and park with all the beautiful amenities and walks. Horringer village is lovely and so wellplaced for Bury St Edmunds, Lavenham and so many amazing places of interest. We totally recommend treating yourself to a stay in the beautiful, peaceful Old Piggery.

What a gem this place is. Beautiful little cottage. I had a Very peaceful and relaxing stay here. The owners are very nice people. It's about a 5 minute max drive away from the centre of Bury St Edmunds therefore a perfect location.
