From my initial booking enquiries to our actual arrival, the apartment's owner Gary provided exceptional service and always responded to my emails very quickly and helpfully, which was reassuring. The price of the accommodation itself was very reasonable and we found it to be very clean and comfortable. Whilst the apartment itself isn't particularly spacious, the terrace was very large and provided a lovely space for dining al fresco. It was also nice and quiet and felt secluded and not overlooked. The apartment is on street level, providing easy access with luggage. We did not need to use the elevator at all during our stay. The air-conditioning in the apartment was excellent (we stayed at the hottest time of the year), but as the free-standing fans in the bedrooms and lounge were so good, we hardly used it. There were plenty of towels and even things such as buckets and spades and inflatables for the kids had been left for us to use, which was a lovely touch.
The complex's two pools were both large. One is a very shallow baby/toddler pool and the other one was a little too deep for me to stand up in. The pools and large garden area is gated, meaning that only residents of the apartment complex can access it, so it's quite private and is well-maintained.
The area of Torreblanca, which we had never visited before, was perfect for a family holiday. The apartment was only a 5-10 minute walk from the most beautiful sandy beaches we had ever seen. They just went on for miles and miles and were extremely clean, had toilets, showers and even children's playground equipment on them. The cost of a sun lounger was only 4 Euros each but on days when we got to the beach late, we were charged less (only 5 Euros for two loungers one day). Those in charge of the loungers could be constantly seen emptying bins and keeping the beach tidy.
The road on the seafront is lined with cafes, bars and restaurants, most of which cater for English diners. My son ordered fish fingers, chips and peas on several occasions, and there was the usual pizza and pasta, as well as more traditional Spanish dishes. There were several Indian restaurants too and nearly every meal we had was superb. We visited the local town of Fuengirola, which is busier, more built-up and has more hotels and shops than Torreblanca, and also visited Malaga, but we preferred the quiet of Torreblanca which has wonderful scenery… very mountainous and full of tropical plants and flowers. Most of our days were spent by the pool and at the beach and cafes. The kids, aged 8 and 5 had a wonderful time.
There was a well-stocked supermarket close to the apartment and the train station was also nearby. However, as the apartment is quite high up, everything is an up-hill walk back to the apartment, which was hard at times, especially in the heat and with luggage.
The train connections from Malaga Airport to Torreblanca couldn't have been better and the trains were clean, frequent and well air-conditioned.
