Because most of the reviews I read before coming here were translated from Spanish, I am writing one in English. The road to Cazorla is long and winding with hairpin turns and fabulous views. When you reach the hotel, it is immediately clear that it is the only dwelling in the vicinity. The staff are very friendly and we were given a welcome letter on our arrival. We stayed in room 6. Apparently rooms 4 - 11 have the best views. Our view was incredible.Walking sticks were in our room as most guests go to the parador to hike. The staff are eager to point out the trails. However, you don't have to go far to spot the wildlife -- we saw wild boar (male piglet) and fallow deer on the path just outside the parador. As it was migration time, the first morning had the skies behind the parador full of raptors -- honey buzzards, short toed eagle and golden eagle. Later in the day, griffin vultures swept lazily through the sky. After hiking, the swimming pool beckoned -- towels were easily obtained from reception. The pool was very refreshing. The food reflects the area with an emphasis on game. The lamb stew is 100% local -- an initiative to increase biodiversity by championing indigenous species (it was also very good). The croquettes were good as were the red peppers stuffed with black pudding. They had plenty of game and oxtail plus vegetarian offerings. The chestnut cake is rather heavy. The breakfasts were typical parador but with a wide selection of local cheese, sausage and cured meat. I tend to get my Iberian ham fix at breakfast rather than at supper. The staff were all very friendly. It is a 3 star parador but that is mainly because it doesn't have a gym etc. The rooms were comfortable -- ours had a ceiling fan. If you want to go out into nature and restore your soul in the mountains, this is the place to do it.

This parador is in a glorious location in the mountains. The views are wonderful and we really enjoyed spending time there. We found the staff really welcoming and helpful and the menu was varied. We were there for 3 days, so tried a lot and loved it all. The parador is a lovely base from which to enjoy the Cazorla area and it is possible to hike from the door too.

We have just returned from staying 4 nights in this lovely place, we arrived to a nice welcome and our room was ready, we had booked a room that could accommodate our little dog. The room was typical spanish style complete with a welcome goodie bag for our pooch. We had booked the half board rate so we had breakfast and dinner each day, the choice and quality on the menu was Excellent and nice to see they use seasonal local produce for many dishes. Service was great and staff friendly! For hiking there any many trails you can do right from the Parador which is really convenient. Or you can drive to other routes quite easily. We would highly recommend this parador and we will return again.

This Parador is far from any tourist place, and this is nice. There are numerous routes to visit this Natural Park, and a after a walking day the swimming pool was the must with its incredible views. A drink in the terrace seeing the mountains at sunshine and a dinner with regional foods to end the day will be in my mind for ages.
