We were visiting the place because the Roman age is interesting. If you also want to experience the history in person then it is a good place to visit.

Learnt lots that I didn't know about roman burials and funeral practises. Well presented in multiple languages.

This is situated closer to the newer part of the city. It is free of charge on entry and there is a small museum at the reception area. There are notices giving information on the artefacts and excavations, dating back to Hellenic times.

This is a pleasant walk around marked paths and interesting archeological site, with a small museum in the reception building. The entrance fee is minimal, 2 Euros each I think. The entrance to the site is difficult to find, you need to drive through the town, park next to the amphitheater and you see it on the other side of the amphitheater site.

Had the place to ourselves at 9 am. Very large area, not as expected. Great fun to be able to climb down into one of the tombs. Lots of different types of tombs to see (sounds weird, but v interesting). Shame the amphitheatre over the road was closed (not sure why as there were explanatory signs visible), but unhelpful staff weren't forthcoming as to why.
