I like the hotel....the bedrooms are big, light and airy and all have balconies. I have stayed at the hotel several times on business between 2008-2010 and the main problem is getting a simple evening meal. Other than using room service (which I tended to do), for most of the year the only option seems to be to eat in the casino restaurant (huge and, more often than not, virtually empty). When staying for a week I do not wish to watch a floor show every night and eat a large meal late at night. Unless you enjoy very low lighting accompanied by the background noise of one-armed bandits, the 'snack bar' in the casino itself should be avoided. How do families with children manage? During the summer season the cafe by the pool is open and this is excellent....I would prefer to eat there every night. On a summer evening it is very relaxing to sit outside overlooking the swimming pool and the local countryside. If the hotel can sort out a consistent and simple dining policy for guests who do not wish to eat in the casino 'barn' then I would not hesitate to recommend it.

Quiet hotel. The casino is separate, so no need to worry about that. Nice breakfast and good facilities.

This hotel is a considerable way out of Chaves itself and is expensive. When we stayed the hotel restaurant was closed and the staff seemed surprised that we might be more interested in food rather than a floor show. The room service was poor with the omelettes we had asked for being cold on the point of delivery. The atmosphere is pretentious plush with bedroom design being black and white dice.

The hotel was new and very beatifull. The positive points are the views, tranquility, A superb SPA. Great value with dinner and show included. The negative points are very few and not important. It was a excellent stay.

We spent only one night at the Hotel Casino Chaves for the weekend, as a surprise getaway. We were pleasantly surprised by the excellent facilities, both the brand new hotel and casino look great and are very tastefully decorated. As you enter the reception you see a huge crystal chandelier reaching up to to the first floor! The casino itself is a good one for a gamble or just to watch people and enterntain yourself at the bar. We decided to have dinner at the casino restaurant and watch the show (included in the fixed price dinner). The food was not of top quality-which is a shame in Portugal-but the Moulin Rouge style show, with topless feathered divas was a lot of fun! It is worth watching.
The bedroom is great, absolutely new and spotless, and tastefully appointed. It was winter and harshly cold in the village of Chaves but the room and corridors were warm and cosy.
About breakfast, I would say it is a weak point: not much choice, just bread, viennoiseries, cheese and, for some reason, a strange choice of jams: tomato, pineapple and kiwi! Should try harder...
Overall, an excellent hotel for a weekend of gaming and affordable luxury.
