“Sumptuous Luxury & Wonderful, Welcoming Staff!”
Reviewed 5 January 2012

This has definitely been one of my 2011 highlights, albeit it with a twist! Some weeks back, I booked a New Years Eve dinner, specifically at the Brabazon Restaurant at Tankardstown House for myself, my Fiance and my Mother. We've eaten at Tankardstown several times since it opened some years back. Anyway, on arrival, we were told that our booking was for the Bistro and that the Brabazon was fully booked for a gala dinner. Needless to say we were utterly disappointed and pretty annoyed. However, we explained the situation to the two members of staff, Fran and Ciara and they both turned our disapointment into a little piece of magic. We had dinner at the Bistro which was beautiful and I must stress that we were extremely well looked after and we were invited up to the main house for some mulled wine which we enjoyed immensely. In fact we were so impressed and so taken with the house and the hospitality and service that we later decided that night to cancel our plans for a Manhattan wedding reception and instead, we made an appointment to see Gillian the next day. She spent hours discussing our plans with us and we have booked Tankardstown House for our upcoming wedding this year! I highly recommend the Tankardstown experience for the food, the location, the decor and ambience and the great staff team, especially Fran, Ciara and Gillian. It really is a little piece of luxurious 5 star heaven, just outside Slane. It oozes with style and sophistication without being stuffy. I simply cannot fault it. So what started out for us as a big misunderstanding, ended up being a huge gift in disguise. Every cloud has a silver lining and this was certainly our piece of silver on New Years Eve!

We attended a wedding party at Tankardstown and stayed in the main house, in a room named Laragh. The house is amazing, the decor fabulous and the beds are easily the most comfortable I've slept on. The staff deserve a mention nothing was too much trouble for them! A special mention to Fran at the bar for putting up with us 'til the wee small hours!! There is even a piano in the hall which guests are encouraged to play. The master suite has to be seen to be believed, it's huge!! The cottages in the courtyard are amazing an ideal place to relax for a weekend with friends. Breakfast in the Bistro was Yummy with plenty of much needed coffee!! I could not find anything to fault in this
fabulous 5* hotel.
It was a real treat to stay here, and I will be back to sample the delicious food in the Brabazon restaurant.

One of the highlights of 2011 for my husband and myself was our trip to Tankardstown House . We went there for our 34th wedding anniversary. It was a fantastic experience from start to finish, the wonderful warm welcome we received the helpfulness of each and every memberof staff we met made it a perfect stay. We were joined for dinner by 2 family members who live close by,they were equally impressed ., the meal was beautiful .
We met the owner Brian who was so welcoming and justly proud of his magnificent
home,.we assured him we will return and we very much look forward to doing just that.
Ijust want to keep this little piece of Heaven in Co .Meath to myself ,all the great things the previous reviwers have said are true its the best.

We were part of a group of fourteen people staying in Tankardstown House for a Christmas get together. The house is set in beautiful grounds a short distance from the village of Slane. Two things immediately impressed me. One was the friendliness and professionalism of the staff and the other was the warmth and comfort of all the rooms in the House. In some other hotels or countryhouses they sometimes stint on heating the place properly. Tankardstown House had a warm, friendly and welcoming feeling from the word go.

We had pre-dinner drinks followed by a really beautiful meal. I started with salmon and crab, had hake as a main course and finished with a selection of desserts and coffee. Everyone in the party enjoyed the food and wine and the fact that it was served in such a friendly manner and at a perfect pace. The staff continued to look after us really well over the course of a long and enjoyable evening. We stayed in a spacious, comfortable bedroom in the main house and some members of the party stayed in the courtyard cottages. They also found the accommodation first class. Breakfast the following day was excellent.

My overall feeling about this place is that the owners and staff go out of their way to make sure that guests really enjoy their stay. Thank you to all the team that made our trip to Tankardstown so enjoyable.

Wow, Wow, Wow. We stayed at Tankardstown House for the weekend. All we can say was it was amazing. The house, decor is out of this world, loved all the different lounges and big log fires, the Honesty Bar was brilliant. We stayed in one of the cottages, again beautifully decorated, loved the seperate lounge and kitchen area. ALL staff were WONDERFUL, they feel like one big 'family' and we felt part of it straight away, they are all very professional, friendly, chatty and cannot do enough for you. The food in both the restaurant and bistro was gorgeous, food yummy, I am vegetarian and I loved both nights and the beef ribs I was told were out of this world. There's a hot tub with a roof over so even if it rains you can use it and there is piped music in the garden, they really have thought of everything to make your stay very very enjoyable. We will DEFINATELY be going back. Very relaxed, beautiful surroundings and fabulous accomodation. Wish there were more places like here.

Room Tip: If you want space try the cottages, they are on 2 floors and have a sperate living and kitchen area.
