“The best Guesthouse on Ireland”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 March 2011

Me and my friend has now spent several nights at Glenshandan guesthouse,in Swords. This was the third time we stayed here and the service and owners are outstanding!!!!They help You with whatever You need. The breakfast is great, the rooms are big, light, clean and You can't hear Your neighbours.Even the beds are perfect=) I really recommend this place. It's also very close downtown Dublin and there is a busstop right outside the guesthouse. We will definately stay here every time we go to Ireland.

Best regards Åsa and Annica,Sweden

Great Guesthouse in centre of Swords, Excellent value and very comfortable bedroom, ask for room 6, it is so charming and elegant overlooking the beautiful garden - as good as a 5 star hotel. We were very kindly given a complimentary bottle of wine by a hansome young man called Danny when he realised it was our anniversary, this was a lovely gesture.
Breakfast was the highlight of our stay, there was a lovely atmosphere in the Dining room. The menu was very extensive and the Irish Breakfast was the best we ever had.
The staff were efficient and very friendly. They made us feel very welcome. Well done Glenshandan. We will be back.

From the moment we entered the reception area we could sense the cleanliness of this beautiful guesthouse. We were greeted by a very friendly and charming man who informed us of the local amenities in Swords and the best restaurants and pubs. Our room was spacious and very comfortable, we had 2 double beds and a single bed so the kids were delighted and even more so when they saw the very large screen HD TV and DVD player. There were loads of crispy towels, soaps, shampoos and shower gels. We all had a great sleep and I can not praise enough the 2 lovely girls who served us amazing breakfasts in the morning. We enjoyed it so much we stayed an extra night and will definately return. It is a hidden charm right in the centre of Swords, we didnt have to use our car as everywhere was so close. My wifes favourite was the free library and reading area and of course the wi-fi. Could not fault anything

Room on ground floor, view from window tatty old garden furniture and dog poo. Room decor was tired and old fashioned with swags over bed, which really didnt suit. Did'tn fancy leaving windown open lots of flies around been pitching on dog poo. Was a bit unhappy that my own towel and bedclothes were moved from where I left them. Breakfast was like it had been cooked three hours previous. Bacon rock hard and dry settled for cereal and toast. Could have been nice accomm with a little more TLC. Good location for bus route into city. Swords has several eateries none particularly good, we tried most of them. Will not return.

Glenshandan is a very quaint lodge in a happening little town. I had no idea Swords was an bustling of a little town as you could ask for. We checked in at the desk with a very friendly and animated lady and were given a suggestion for a restaurant within walking distance. The room itself was really just a room, two beds, a desk, and a bathroom. The toilet was inconsistent about flushing but otherwise, I think the room was fine.

We think that there may be long term tenants at this location as there was a lot of activity between rooms later at night and doors to rooms were often left open. It was like they all knew eachother and were hanging out. The noise wasn't too bad but it did take me a little while to fall asleep. Also, this was a non-smoking place but often smelled strongly of smoke but I think that may be because people were hanging out on the front step smoking with the front door partially open. In the morning, when I awoke, I could hear the person in the next room snoring. This is to be expected as the place is old but I just thought I'd put it out there for people who are sensitive to noise.

We had to get up early in the morning to leave for the airport so we didn't get a chance to have a hot breakfast but we were told to help ourselves to what was in the fridge and in the dining room. That was nice. Our drive to the airport was a breeze and it truly was only 10 minutes away. We found our rental car company with no problems and were even early.
