The museum is closed. We spoke with the former owner's son who said his mother (the owner) had died. Everything had been boxed up and given to a grandson. He is unsure what is to become of it. Very nice man.
During a recent vacation to Branson, my wife and I travelled to Eureka Springs for the sole purpose of visiting the Frog Museum, as my wife is an avid frog collector. I was hoping to surprise her, but to my surprise the museum is no longer open to the general public, and according to the locals hasn't been for some time. In fact, most of the existing shop owners we spoke with couldn't even remember where it had been.
It's more like a collection rather than a museum, but what a collection it is! I am a frog fanatic and when my husband and I arrived to this place - they were closed. The son of the owner who owns the bike shop upstairs, was gracious enough to allow us in to see it. The owner told us stories of him and his wife dressing up and participating in parades and of the different famous people that had healthy frog obsessions like he and I. He even allowed me to purchase a beautiful frog pin from his own personal collection. These people were so kind to let us view their collection when their doors were closed. It was comforting to know there are other frog fans in the world as 'froggy' as me. Loved our visit!
If so you will enjoy this little museum on Eureka Springs Historic loop. A life time of collecting all things frog, these owners are kind people entrenched in the community. I was delighted to find them on the map in the Denver airport as Eureka's claim to fame. That is arguable but their little museum of frogs is very sweet and quirky, like Eureka Springs.
If you have a love of frogs, you have got to go, it is wall to wall full of all different types of frogs, big, small, tiny, all different colors and from so many places!
It's a misnomer to call this couple's collection of everything frog a "museum"...very disappointing.
