Ironically we live quite close and this was our first visit, it won't be the last. We booked for an early meal as we had a 7 year old with us. We were greeted well upon our early arrival, the place had ' a good feel about it " always important as for me first impressions are lasting.
The service was good, all of the staff were polite and friendly. A good sense of humour was needed as they joined in with some playful banter with the 7 year old . who is currently going through an"I'm allergic to vegetables phase". But they did not lose sight of attention to detail, making sure that we had everything we needed, topping up our drinks , without being intrusive. The food was excellent.
We will definitely go again.

Popped in today for the first time. Snowy. Been walking the dogs on the gallops. We live 3 miles away. Thought we would give it a go. Made to feel unwelcome. Asked if we were residents...”we are only open to residents”..(we were not). We politely said “no problem...we will go somewhere else”. The grumpy guy eating by the telly said “you can stay...my mother is opening the bar”. Had 1 drink. They must be making so much money out of tourists that they no longer feel the need to be polite to locals.

Lovely boutique hotel. We had a family of eight and used the family room and two others. Each were uniquely decorated, very clean, comfortable beds, great showers. The continental breakfast was homemade & delicious. Friendly staff and very accommodating. Had all the basic necessities for our stay. Would highly recommend if you are staying in the North Yorkshire area!
