“We didn't want to leave”

This house grew on me during our stay to the point that by the end of our holiday it was a very reluctant departure. The top floor of the house is super: spacious and light with two charming outside areas - one smart terrace and another scruffy but endearing garden smelling of lavender and with wild fennel growing everywhere, also a brilliant view up to the castle. Downstairs there are three bedrooms with comfortable beds and basic furnishings - it could do with upgrading in order to compete with the high standard of the living space on the top floor but it was more than adequate. As you descend down to the lower floor things become even more basic in a sort of reverse hierarchy of quality and care, here the fourth bedroom is next to the utility room with no door to separate them, it had a damp, underground smell and I wouldn't have fancied sleeping down there (we didn't need to use it). The utility area however is fine and accommodates the all important waning machine. Parking and driving down the narrow roads took some getting used to but Rodes is truly a lovely village with easy access to the beach, local walks and places of interest, a nearby swimming lake and the Canigou Massif. I loved staying here and would certainly book again if returning to the area. My one criticism concerning the booking is the extra payment for bed linen which really goes across the board for any accommodation - I would much rather see it included in the rental agreement even if the prices reflected that so that I know there is nothing further to pay for or worry about - that's just my view though and I know that it is fairly standard practice.

Thank you for the lovely house - we really didn't want to leave!

Thanks for the lovely review, in the advert we call the garden "wild" it's a great place for children to ramble in safety.

We charge extra for linen because we let to many French guests and traditionally the French supply their own linen, so when it's included they want a reduction.

We would love to see you if you get down to this area again, we offer a discount to returning guests.

“Great Apartment in a fantastic location”
Reviewed 4 June 2014 for a stay in May 2014

We had a great time in this flat. We came with our 16 month old and we all loved it. The stairs are steep and plentiful but we managed ok with a toddler. Really well equipped place with everything you could need, and more. The village is delightful and we really enjoyed staying there. Clean, comfortable, and well equipped.

“Great accommodation, wonderful views and ideal location”
Reviewed 25 April 2014 for a stay in August 2013

The villa had everything we needed, is prettily decorated and the top floor and terrace with its amazing views is particularly fine. We didn't have a problem parking as there are parking areas above and below the villa. Rodes is a lovely small village, good for exploring with some lovely walks from there and it's a good place to be based; not far from the coast and the resorts there but also easily driveable to the mountains. It's also easy to walk to the lake at Vinca for swimming and lounging if you can't be bothered to drive anywhere.

“Fantastic location”
Reviewed 16 August 2013 for a stay in August 2013

The house was lovely, particularly the top floor lounge , kitchen and roof terrace. It was in a lovely quiet village but with easy access to the mountains and the coast. The only thing we had a problem with is that it states the house has it's own parking space. This is not the case so there was a few times when we had to park further down in the village and walk back up to the house.
