My wife and I stayed here for 9 nights in January 2019 and will be coming back in 2020 for sure. We stayed in one of the lakefront bungalows which are right on the water, set in a beautiful garden, with an unparalleled view of the Lake. The bungalows are spacious and well-designed. The hotel is located near the dock for easy transfers and access to the tuk-tuks to visit the village of Santa Cruz on the top of the hill (and the excellent Cecap restaurant there). Paulina and her staff (shout-outs to Rosa, Andrees mayor, Andreeus menor, Margarita, Manuela and Rosa) were very helpful accommodate our every need and cleaned the bungalow whenever you request it. The chef in the restaurant is very accomplished and the 90 quetzal set dinner is always worth the price if you have a big appetite (but we didn't every night). The view from the restaurant is lovely and the vines planted attract hummingbirds in great numbers. Santa Cruz is quiet and laid-back but there are plenty of activities available: hiking, swimming, kayaking, stand-up paddling, visits to other towns on the lake by launch, studying at the Santa Cruz Spanish School. There is noise in the bungalows until 9 p.m. from the Free Cerveza Hostel, so if you want to retire before then bring some earplugs. Don't let the comments about spiders or insects disturb you, we saw none at all except in the garden. We can't wait to go back next year.
