This hotel allows you to experience the true nature of Costa Rica. We had a very adequate room with an outdoor living area. The kitchen and dining were in our outdoor living room, with a sofa and chairs. It was "perfect" for viewing the natural environment that is so special in Costa Rica. Birds singing, amazing treees. A lovely pool area, nice dining. It was a great hotel in this part of Costa Rica.

This place looks like it's been around more than 18 years. It was perfectly acceptable as a place to stay in Dominical area. AC took time to cool down the room. Very nice grounds and a nice pool. All the chairs around the pool were in use so I couldn't hang out there when I wanted to. A decent breakfast included with room - nice area for breakfast. Prices are a bit high for what you get compared to other places we stayed in well travelled tourist areas. We were glad we were only staying for one night. We really liked Dominical, although we didn't spend much time in the area. Neat little funky town.

Room Tip: I think we had a superior room.

the hotel is sited on a large river, consists of about 50 or 60 cottages, all renonovated recently. It has, for the southern pacific, a very large and well maintained pool w/ adjacent restaurant and bar. The hotel is walking distance to the town of dominical and the beach. ...to the south 10 minutes. I you walk to the north , along the road next to the river it is jungle , but safe....an actual costa rican experience. The river is high and rushing in the rainy season and a bed of stone like creek in january /february.
The people that work in this hotel are the best and most helpful. They have a full time peron to help w/ any excursions or sidetrips you wish to take. And can rent a car as well. The people are what makes this a special resort.

We arrived a day early. Our hotel was booked and they recommended Rio Mar. Even though, it is not on the beach, it is close by to the beach and "downtown" Dominical via a dirt road. It is in the jungle, but there are broad lawns separating the buildings. The pool is big. The rooms are not big, but they all come with an outdoor seating area with a small refrigerator and wet bar. The staff was friendly and helpful. Even though there are 50+ rooms, it never feels crowded.

What can I say, Detroit to Dominical. Two weeks and never a dull moment, from breakfast with Carol then surf with Bob then food at the restaurant from a confident staff. I should of never got back on the plane home. Epic. Costa Rica is a very nice place to spend some time where you don't worry about time. Very friendly and the water is warm and waves -anything you want.

Room Tip: Rooms are fine, clean and the fans work well. Enjoy your privacy.
