My family and I have just returned from a week in Coach Cottage, and had a fabulous time! We were met by Gaynor and shown around the cottage and grounds and were made to feel very welcomed which was lovely.
The cottage itself is traditional and typically Cornish which was why we chose this rental. Placed in a quiet friendly village, we certainly got the peace and quiet we required. It was the perfect touring base!
The cottage was clean and comfortable, the mattresses also very comfortable, and all bedding crisp and clean. For the first time ever, I did not need to clean before settling in. There are some amazing restaurants close by, and gorgeous beaches in the surrounding regions just a short drive in all directions.
If you are looking for something more modern and new, they do exist in Cornwall, but expect to pay for it. However, if like me you crave the true taste of Cornwall with rustic charm, this is the place for you. We would definitely return to this lovely cottage. Highly recommended!
Stayed here for a week, family of 5 (2 adults and 3 children).
We were met by Gaynor on our arrival, and had a tour of the facilities and instruction on operation of the heating and hot water system.
This is an absolute gem, 3 bedrooms (double, twin, and bunk beds) and bathroom (powerful shower, toilet and wash basin) downstairs, with living room and kitchen upstairs.
Enough facilities, dvd's and games on site to keep the kids entertained, fast WiFi to stay connected, loads of brochures for the surrounding area and sufficient cooking facilities if eating in.
Thank you Gaynor and Simon for making us welcome, and allowing us enjoy this delightful little gem, we had a fantastic week, you may well see us again in the near future.
Out and about;
The village has a community post office and general store, with freshly baked bread (we sent the kids out early a couple of times for fresh bread and local bacon), and a community pub (we were too busy out and about to try the pub).
The property is within 15-20 minutes of Bude, which is ideal for shopping and fuel, as well as beaches and eateries.
A little further afield, and still within 30 minutes, are more delightful beaches and tourist attractions (Tintagel, Bodmin etc..).
If you decide to go to Widemouth beach, the Black Rock car park is only £3 all day, a lot cheaper than the council car park, and the beach is lovely.
We picked up some current brochures from our days out, and left them for future holidaymakers, as an earlier reviewer mentioned that the ones in the cottage were out of date.
If you get the chance, have a day out at the Hidden Valley Discovery Park, a fantastic experience for young and old alike.
Lovely cottage with character. We loved our stay, was very nervous before we went as wasn’t sure how my 5 month old baby will react to a new place but he loved it too, the only downside was that our time there flew by lol. Gaynor is a lovely welcoming lady, would definitely recommend it. It was different from the hotels we used to stay in before we had our son but didn’t regret it one bit, felt very homely.
We had a wonderful time in Coach cottage. This cottage is set in the country side, has lovely views it and has three bedrooms. A double bedroom, a bedroom with a set of bunk beds and the shower room (with a very powerful shower) and toilet on the ground floor. Then on the first floor another bedroom with a set of bunk beds, the lounge with a sofa bed and the kitchen. In the lounge was a flat screen tv and DVD. The kitchen was very well equipped and we had everything we needed. In a separate room across the patio was a pool table and table tennis table which we used quite a lot. The owner was very helpful and always contactable if we need anything. We would certainly go back and may be try Stable cottage.
This was our first experience of booking a holiday cottage. It was easy to book and the owner's communications were brilliant- v quick replies to email and booking. We received v clear instructions on how to find the property. The property was beautifully clean and well maintained and we were shown all the facilities with instructions on how to increase heating etc if required. There was plenty of room for 2 adults +3 children (2of which are teenagers). The games room was especially popular with my youngest, but there were some books and board games in the cottage as well as TV & dvd player with some discs. The only tiny niggle was that the pool table wasn't functioning but that didn't affect our holiday overall. There are some stunning views and lovely walks nearby,but you do need a car to get much further afield. Thank you we had a great holiday.
