“suryalanka beach resort”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 June 2013

Visited Suryalanka Beach Resort along with my Friends in the month of April 2013, Unexplored Place, Not much crowded; we booked Haritha Beach resort much in Advance (1 week), Beach is walk able distance from the resort, Resort has all the facilities, cost would be around 2.5 to 3k

Suryalanka is the nearest beach from Hyderabad and is located at a distance of 8.5 kilometers from the town of Bapatla, in Guntur district. This beach overlooks the blue water of Bay of Bengal. Approx. 380 kms. By road From Hyderabad, The bookings can be made online from APTDC site for Haritha Beach Resort which is operated by AP Tourism. The rates are 2500/= per night for sea-facing cottages. There are 2 types of room: One is sea facing and the other type is behind these cottages. The property has a sit-out area, a restaurant and ample open space.

We started around 8am and reached by 4pm After relaxing for an hour we all headed to the beach. It was a crowded public beach with trash all around. The beach stretch was small as south side is barricaded off to the public as an Indian Air force restricted area. The beach does not have toilets. Vehicle is allowed right till the beach, so if you have kids along you will have to be vigilant. We ignored these set-backs and went into the water. The waves were awesome. The waves were very rough and it rained.

The best part was we thought we would have born fire and dinner outside but it flopped very badly because of rain and Staff was under Strike so no one was willing to set up born fire.
But Booze is available till morning, contact any o the security guards they will get it or you. We stayed outside till 4am in the morning we had good time.

Good place to hang out with a group of friends. We were in a group of 10, we booked 2 rooms it was fun 5 people sleeping in one room.

Tips
• Make the booking in advance for this resort and ask for sea facing cottage.
• Carry Sun screen lotion

“Good beach to Visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 May 2013

We have visited this beach on 15th may and found that this beach is very good but yet to be explored on tourist guides and Lack of Hotels. There is only one beach resort run by AP tourism so one should stay at BAPATLA which is 8 Kms away from Suryalanka Beach.

“One of the best Beaches”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 March 2013

Unexplored Place. Not crowded too much. Very few people on weekdays. We booked Haritha Beach resort much in advance. Took train (Simhapuri Exp) from secunderabad station (Over night journey). Reached Bapatla early morning next day (around 545am). We hired a auto from Bapatla for Surya Lanka Beach (Around 100-150 INR). The Haritha resort is really really good. It's a govt. resort but clean & well maintained. Staff is really co-operative and friendly. This resort is about 200 mtrs away from sea (Amazing view). Rooms are spacious and have all amenities (AC, LCD, hot water etc.). I would suggest travelers to take your towel and toiletries along with you. Resort has decent restaurant which is just on beach and one can have sip of tea or coffee along with sea view. Decent south Indian food. Heavon for Photographers as specially in the early morning. We went into sea and it's not deep at all. Had good time with family. You can get bear from near by shops (~140 INR/bear) and fresh fried fish. Due to lack of other resorts/hotels/restaurants, this beach untouched by large number of people and that's the beauty. People who wants to just enjoy sea and beach, this is the must place to visit. For me it looks like my private beach which was not there at any other beaches in India.

Good beach, but yet to be developed as a tourist destination - lacks basic necessities like good food, choice of accommodation and any activities for entertainment

“Wonderful getaway for a relaxed weekend!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 January 2013

When we discovered that there's a beach resort hardly 400 kms away from Hyderabad, we planned a weekend getaway to Suryalanka. We book our sea-side cottages at the Haritha Beach Resort over 2 months in advance because it was the only hotel in the vicinity.
Even though the roads are in good shape and reaching by our own conveyance would've been faster, we chose to take it easy and take the overnight train to Bapatla, and from there we took a 6-seater autorickshaw to Suryalanka.
Suryalanka beach is a beautiful, neat-and-clean place, and I was amazed at how well maintained it is as compared to other commercial beaches in Goa, Mumbai, etc. The water was very clear. Maybe the presence of just one resort and no other source of recreation in the vicinity has kept truckloads of visitors at bay, and Suryalanka beach is still untouched by the evils of commercialization.
The cottages are neat, with each structure being separated from the others by a considerable distance. The cottages are elevated and you have to climb a flight of stairs to reach the main door and the verandah. We were lucky to have a sunbathing chair propped up in our verandah! The room is clean, quite spacious with a double bed, a television and an attached bathroom. It was a tidy affair and quite economical too (for about Rs. 3000 a night).
What ensued was one full day of complete rest, playing in the sea (it's not deep and the waves aren't turbulent, but we had a brush with jelly fish which were floating in the water not far from the beach!!), building sand castles, etc.
In the evening, the staff at Haritha were kind enough to arrange for firewood and we enjoyed a bonfire on the beach with a bit of revelry stretching late into the night. The food served by the staff was delicious too.
All in all, it was a wonderful exeperience. Wouldn't mind going back there time and again.

Tip: Carrying drinks with you is a better option as it would be quite expensive if purchased there. Also take along an icebox, and purchase bricks of ice from Bapatla at a nominal price. Such an arrangement worked well for us, and we had chilled beer and cold drinks even 12 hours after reaching Bapatla.
