We stopped for advice regarding trails to hike and how to get there. The staff were great - Took the time to provide the direction and advice we needed and marked our maps to ensure we didn't forget. All this and great cookies too. What more could you ask for? We had a great day.
We stopped into the hike house to grab a backpack for hiking and the staff was proactively helpful in recommending hikes for our group. We thought we knew which hike we wanted to do, but after chatting with staff for about 10 minutes, we had three new hikes recommended for our specific group and what we were looking for (including views/time/challenge level). We were walked through where they were located and the staff even drew out a color coded map for us on the trail map (that he gave us, along with a FREE delicious, warm cookie). You should definitely stop in, buy a yummy cookie and chat with this staff on your first day in Sedona. So helpful!!
We are soooooo thankful for the advice on making smart hiking choices in the rain and snow! We are determined to get out there even if the weather isn't ideal. These guys know their stuff! Go see them for all your hiking needs!
My name is Asher and I am 10 years old. My family and I stopped at the Hike House when we were in Arizona for a holiday in December. We wanted to check out some of the hikes there and we talked to Mike at the Hike House. He really helped us out. He told us that Cathedral Rock would be a great hike for our family and he was right! It was a really fun hike because there is lots of neat rock climbing. I really liked the thrill of trying to climb to the top. It has an amazing view at the top and a super cool rock ledge that you can get some great pictures on. This hike really made me like hiking more because it was so fun. So if you're ever in Sedona stop at the the Hike House and talk to the nice people there. They will help you find a great hike to explore. And if you are lucky like I was, you might also get one of their awesome cookies!
Stop here if you need help choosing your hikes - or need gear or even just a coffee. My sister and I stopped by for the geocache, did some shopping, and then enjoyed a snack on the very comfortable patio tables. Very friendly staff, good views.
Their website rates over 100 local trails
If you go to hike I recommend stopping here first. We picked up a copy of the new edition of their guide book which was invaluable for our five day trip. We went back the next day to pick up a few hiking supplies. The vibe is great and the service and recommendations about everything from safety to great photography spots were excellent. Even the coffee we got there was the best of our trip. Not to mention the chunky cookies. Brief review of the guide book: excellent overall, tips are great but we found that the classification of hikes as easy, moderate, difficult means they fall on an elongated sliding scale. For us some moderate hikes were closer to easy and some fell closer to difficult. Understandable given that there are many factors to consider but something to think about if you're novice hikers like us.
