“Tucked away vacation destination”
Reviewed 25 April 2012 via mobile

My husband and I spent an anniversary weekend at the Junipine, in a very beaitiful setting along Oak Creek just a few miles north of Sedona. The service was perfect, the staff was always available, but they will leave you alone otherwise. Firewood and their own blend of coffee is provided daily upon your request. You can hear the creek, which is very relaxing, plus the many birds in the trees. The only reason I didn't give the resort am overall rating of 5 is because our unit is in need of attention to cabinets and woodwork.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at our creek side retreat. The place was comfortable and beautiful. Super comfortable beds and clean. Sedona is breathtaking and relaxing. We did Cathedral Rock hike and Boynton Canyon. Both a memory we will not forget. Check out Slide rock.

My husband had wanted to stay at Junipine for as long as I have known him and when we finally booked a weekend stay I am happy to say we were NOT disappointed! The front desk staff was friendly and helpful, able to answer any questions we had about the area. Our cabin was SPOTLESS. Very very clean. The beds were very comfortable and we loved our forest view with a jacuzzi on the deck. The resort was booked solid but we didn't hear anyone else there, it was very private. We loved the decor of our cabin and it had everything we could need for a weekend away. We can't wait to go back!

First of all, I can say that the front desk's service is exceptional and ver accommodating. But, and there are a lot if buts, the problem starts inside the room:

1) The wifi was terrible. All 4 of us trying to use the Internet couldn't surf properly - one website had taken at least 45mins to finish downloading.

2) The cabins are old, and that means, that the showers and sinks must be old too. What created the most problem was that the shower knobs are hard to operate and some of us spent at least 5mins in the bathroom before showering just trying the figure out how to use the shower, since it's not like those typical turn right for cold and all the way for hot. They could've included an instruction beside the shower.

3) Housekeeping service was also terrible. We ordered for bath towels in the morning and waited for more than 1.5hrs before we finally left and decided that the towels would arrive in the afternoon. We had to follow up with the front desk (because they don't have a telephone key for the housekeeping) 3x in those 1.5hrs that we waited. Those towels arrived when we got back from our 6hr trip.

4) One last thing. There were 8 of us and 1 of our cabins has 2 bedrooms and another small (kids) bedroom in the 2nd floor (the loft). The management was too strict and couldn't accommodate all 8 of us in a cabin so we had to divide 6 in a cabin and 2 in the other. We checked the rooms and know that all 8 of us could fit in a cabin if only the management made use of the loft (kids' room) and placed 2 more folding beds there. We are disappointed bec our famil and friends couldn't be in the same cabin and the 2 who were in the other cabin had to be left out.

Thanks to my research on Trip Advisor, I discovered Junipine Resort. My family and I have just returned from this jewel of a place and already can't wait to go back! Why? What we look for in any place we vacation is beauty, safety, (major in-depth) cleanliness, comfortable beds, close to great things to see and do and a friendly caring staff. Junipine has all of this and more . . . in spades!

The location is lovely, there along Oak Creek in the Oak Creek Canyon, just 15 minutes north of Sedona. The condos are very well kept. The grounds are well kept and beautiful. It's quiet, peaceful, and green there. I imagine that in Summertime, it's a cool, heavenly place to return to after a day of sightseeing in Sedona.

Our condo itself was very clean and, believe me, I check everything thoroughly! The kitchen was very well equipped, with fairly new, clean, well-working appliances. There wasn't anything I needed but didn't have there. The bedrooms were lovely and I was very happy to see no bedspreads! Instead, pristine white sheets and pillows with a lovely down(?) comforter wrapped in a sheet. Ahhhh . . . I was already starting to relax! In the master bedroom there was a window wall with a door opening out to the large, beautiful redwood deck overlooking Oak Creek, not to mention, gorgeous views. That deck was completely private and also had a nice table and 4 chairs off the living room. The bedroom also had two large, CLEAN, dressers, 2 nice nightstands, both with very adequate reading lamps. The king-size bed was very comfortable, BTW, with 6 pillows for comfy reading in bed if you choose. It also had a lovely fireplace. The bathroom was quite large, also very clean. The long counter with cabinets and drawers and a sink was outside the enclosed toilet and shower area for easy multi-person access. The shower was huge and lovely with two shower heads and a built-in bench. Upstairs, our daughter's loft bedroom had twin beds, a nightstand, reading lamp, a large leather lounge chair with reading lamp and a small dresser. Above the beds were two huge skylights which delighted her, although she did say she was glad she was an early riser because of them. If you're not, I'd suggest one of those masks to shade your eyes while you sleep.

The living room area had a very comfortable leather sofa and loveseat and a huge rustic stone fireplace. There was a nice wood table and chairs for comfy dining between the kitchen and living rooms, although they were all open to each other, One wall in the living room was also a large wall of windows with a door to go out onto the deck. The views were incredibly beautiful.
I do want to mention that all doors had very good and secure locking systems on them.
The fireplaces had plenty of free wood, along with fire-starters and matches, and are refilled daily if you choose.

The staff at Junipine is great, friendly and helpful. It's very obvious that they care about you and their beautiful place there. The main building where you check in has a smallish shop area where you can pick up a few things. They have a list of approx 300 dvds that you can borrow for free, two at a time. There are large flatscreen tvs with hookups for dvds in every condo from what I've heard. Ours had 3 (living room and both bedrooms . . . at least I think there was one upstairs in the loft bedroom) and they worked fine. Because it was, sadly, too cold to sit out on the deck in the evenings during our visit, we spent the time after we got back from dinner, cozied up on the couches watching movies. Oh, and I should mention that the carpeting throughout looked and felt clean, as did the flooring in the kitchen, bathroom and hall.

We had one meal at the Junipine Grill on the property which I'll review in a separate review. We also ordered breakfast that first morning delivered to our condo. The dinner was lovely. The breakfast was great and we were pleased that it came so promptly and in microwaveable containers to heat further if we chose.

In closing, I have to say that we all loved our stay at Junipine and can't imagine staying anywhere else in the Sedona area now that we've found this jewel of a place. We're already planning our next trip back in the summer.
