“We had a great time.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 April 2012

My wife and I spent a week at the Ridge on Sedona Golf Resort and truly had a wonderful time. Being that it was off season (late October 2011), we had one of the several pools on the property to ourselves the entire week. Even in late October, the temperature was in the mid-70's all week and sunny. It was nice to relax read a book and enjoy the beautiul scenery. Our room was cozy (a studio) but was just right for the two of us. It was nice but seemed like it could've used a little updating as far as the interior decor. (I base this on the year before, we stayed at Scottsdale Villa Mirage and the layout was exactly the same. The only difference was in Scottsdale, the unit was completely renevated).
The night life was 'fair' at best and was surprised there wasn't more restaurants in the local area. It's about 15 minutes south of Sedona in the village of Oak Creek. Overall, we had a real nice time and would go back again.
There was also a nice little fitness facility off the main lobby which my wife and I used each day as well as laundry facilities.

The location is great, our room not so much so. We were booked into a Studio that was advertised as having a partial kitchen. There was no kettle in the room and apparently none available from house keeping. As well, other than the dinner plates and soup bowls there was nothing to use to prepare a meal in the microwave. Once again house keeping indicated that they had nothing available. We opted for a second floor studio and were regularly awakened by the sound of the air conditioning/heating unit on the roof. We brought this to the attention of the Hotel on 2 occasions to no avail. Overall the Studio is spacious, but I think a one-bedroom unit would be better value, I expect that they have views of other than the parking lot. During the mid-week cleaning they failed to vacuum the unit. It is also interesting to note that the bottom bed sheet is not quite long enough so that if you are at all tall you end up with your feet on the bare mattress. As the Resort is part of the Diamond Resort Chain, you have an opportunity for a free gift. This gift comes at the cost of a 90 minute sales pitch which easily ran into a 3 hour marathon. In future I would give the free gift a pass.
The concierge that we dealt with was quite pleasant and knowledgeable about the area.

The only real good thing about this resort was that I got a great deal buying someones week at the timeshare on ebay,
Our studio unit was a about 400 sf. We were told this was one of the recently upgraded and remodeled units.
The partial kitchen did not have an oven, but did have two range burners and a microwave. The bed was mushy and the walls are paper thin. We could constantly hear the group of ladies in the unit next to us. I felt as if I was part of their conversation. The property was doing painting on the units outside and started up big loud compressors or generators before 8am in the morning. The trash pickup with trucks making that beep beep sound and dumping the large bins also happens well before 8am. Our unit did not look at the golf course as advertised. We were in the last end unit and looked at someones private backyard with goats and chickens. Being at the end of the property and from the office, the wifi that you had to pay for was non-existant for us. Had to go drive somewhere to get a signal.
Would never stay here again, even with the fantastic deal I got.

I can't say enough about this property. Beautiful views EVERYWHERE, right on one of the nicest golf courses I have ever seen, and the most friendly, helpful staff I could have asked for!

My wife, 16 year old son, and I have just returned from a fabulous week at the Ridge on Sedona. Everyday was full of something different, from a great day of golf at the Sedona Golf Resort, to a tour with Pink Jeeps, a day in Phoenix watching spring training, a hike up Doe Mt, and finally a day touring the Grand Canyon. So much to do, so little time.

We did not have any of the aforemntioned difficulty with sales presentations. In fact, we were offered an additional week at another resort if we agreed to do a tour. We asked for time to think about it, and were given a contact person and phone number to call when we made up our minds. That was it. The room (studio) was a little on the small side and the coffee table got in the way pretty bad when the sofa sleeper was deployed. But other than that, the room was spotless and the maid staff made sure we had ample towels and kitchen supplies.

We just got back from 7 night spring break vacation here. Overall the trip was awesome. We hiked every single day and then came back to spend hours in the pool and hot tub. One day we drove 2 hours to the Grand Canyon which was more than spectacular, especially for the kids who had never seen it.

We had a 2 bedroom unit which was a studio connected to a one bedroom. This was fine - our teens liked their privacy. The beds were comfortable and most especially comfortable were the sofa beds. I think they're some type of memory foam - not the cheapy thin mattress that you feel the bars through. Any adult would not feel jipped sleeping on the sofa bed. The bathroom did not have a separate room for the toilet so anyone using the sink would quickly chased out by anyone needing the commode. But that's not a biggie. The kitchen was just fine with the standard time share cookware, plates and utensils, etc.

There is an overabundance of hiking within 15 minutes drive from the resort. We did not see any need to purchase one of the tours. The concierge desk was great at directing us to popular sites and hikes and provided hiking maps. Redbox was only 1.5 miles away at Circle K and had much newer choices than the resort's movie selections. Several eateries were close by. Cafe Jose was delicious mexican food. Famous Pizza was great too.

The two negatives of our week: the sales presentation and the need to "clean" before checking out. First was the sales presentation. We have timeshares with two other companies and are very pleased with them and have never minded attending a sales presentation... until this one. We had about a 110 minute presentation and turned down the $35k opportunity to buy into Diamond. The manager had to come over while the salesman told him what all we had turned down and then had to sign some form. THEN there was a third man who came over after the two men were done with us. He offered us a Sampler promotion, where we could pay $2200 and have 18 months to use Diamond like a one-time use kind of thing. We liked the idea of being able to "sample" the resort company, kind of a test drive before you buy kind of deal. We signed up for the deal and at the end were given a Sampler book. After extolling the great and wonderful properties of the diamond resort collection the book (given to us after the deal was sealed) showed us 14 resorts which we had to choose from. Hardly any choice and truly deceptive from the presentation.

Our second gripe: at check-in we were given printed instructions for things to do prior to check-out. They were: place all soiled dishes in the dishwasher and start. Place all the trash in trash bags (more bags available at the front desk), and place dirty linens on the beds and if the sofa bed was used, open it with the dirty linens atop. And if you didn't do what was asked you would be charged a $75 housekeeping fee. I certainly don't leave a place a dump but come on! What is the resort cost for? It most definitely should include housekeeping. The other part of this is that they expect the current family to clean for the next family. We decide which dishes are soiled and which get cleaned? They should treat it all as dirty and clean it from top to bottom. Leave me out of it.
