“A quick last-minute Easter getaway....gorgeous property!”
Reviewed 14 April 2012

It was my first time at a Fairmont and the property is stunning....at night there is an beautiful outdoor bar, numerous firepits throughout the property, and a very relaxing atmosphere under the stars. The resort, I believe, was close to full capacity with a majority of guests staying at the property for Passover. The only downside was getting a lounge chair at the pool.....it was like a lottery, very disappointing. You need a room key to get to the pool area and there is a big sign that you cannot reserve chairs.....well, that doesn't work very well in my opinion. The first day I was circling like a shark before lunch and then during lunch, and it was very difficult to snag a chair. They do have, what seems to be "chair patrols" but apparently, everyone staying at the hotel was at the pool! I did try another pool and then the spa pool ultimately, same deal.....get out early to the pool after an early breakfast, and you should be good! Room was very nice, odd shape with tv on the right of my bed, but the bed was super comfy. *** Be aware that the resort charges $10 per day or self park and $20 for valet*** I usually stay at the Marriott Camelback Inn and I feel that the pool service is better there and they cater more to their guests.....they will come by your chair at the pool with ice towels, frozen grapes, smoothie samples, and ice water....and I don't get nickel and dimed for parking...it is included, which it should be for self parking at such a large resort.

Once again the Fairmont Scottsdale has exceeded in every way. Food, bars, pools, rooms, and best of all staff. Friendly, efficient, and professional. From bar staff to valets and all in between. Close to everything - golf, shopping, dining - this is just plainly a top notch resort!

We visited the Fairmont Scottsdale over Easter weekend. Overall we had a very nice 5 night stay. My kids (ages 11, 15, and 17) all thought the hotel was a lot of fun and we made some great family memories that we will never forget.

Restaurants on Property. During our stay, we had a chance to eat at Bourbon Steak and LV Bistro. We also enjoyed the room service. Unfortunately, we did not have a chance to eat at La Hacienda, which we heard was great. The Steakhouse was pricey, but outstanding. We ate on the patio. It was a beautiful night and the restaurant offers a wonderful atmosphere. We really enjoyed the great service and great food! Our daughter was celebrating a birthday on the evening we ate at Bourbon Steak and the restaurant had a birthday card waiting for her at the table upon our arrival. How nice! When she ordered a desert, it came with a birthday candle. Another nice touch! We ate at the LV Bistro for breakfast and a couple of times for lunch. We ordered carry out from the Bistro and ate by the pool, which was nice. The Bistro offered good service and the food was always good. We also ate at the South Pool and Sonora Splash, which offers a good pool menu.

Pools. We spent one day at the Sonora Splash pool and the remainder of the days at the South Pool. We rented a cabana at the Sonora Splash and the kids had a lot of fun at the pool. We found the servce to be better at the Sonora Splash, especially the cabana service. When we arrived to the cabana at the Sonora Splash, the staff had already clearly marked the cabana with our name on it so there was no misunderstanding as to what cabana was ours for the day. The staff had also secured several chairs for our group of 5. We received fruit, water bottles, and ice cream bars. Unfortunately, the cabana service was not nearly as organized at the South pool (which we ended up doing for only one day as a result). The staff at the South Pool would not identify which cabana each group was scheduled to have until 10:00 a.m. Also, despite the advertisement on the Fairmont website, they would only guarantee 2 chairs per cabana (not 4). So, waiting until 10:00 a.m. to find out what cabana was ours caused considerable confusion, as by 10:00 a.m. nearly all of the pool chairs were secured by guests. This caused confusion and frustration for guests. We all agreed the Fairmont should look to find someone who would take more of an active interest in overseeing the South Pool. The person who appeared to be in charge was not overly friendly and she was a person of very few words. This seemed odd as the pool is a place where the Fairmont could leave a good impression on guests, as it is a very popular spot! Anyway, after the one day of cabana rental at the South pool, we opted just to arrive early at the pool and secure our own chairs, which worked fine. We did wish the pool would play the music at a little higher level. The pool music is just barely on and it really should be turned up so it can be heard by the pool guests. Because two of our children really enjoyed the fishing, we ended up spending the majority of our time at the South pool, as it was the closest pool to the fishing ponds. By the way, the fishing ponds are beautiful and created so many fun times for our boys. They met many other kids at the ponds and had a great time catching the catfish, bass, and blue gill.

Casitas. We stayed in the casitas that were furthest from the main hotel. Next time, we will try to stay in the casitas located near the hotel. Because the hotel property is so beautiful and peaceful, we really did not mind the short walk to the main hotel and pool area from our casita. We requested a roll away before we arrived and were pleasantly suprised to find it in our room upon arrival. Although our casita was ready for a remodel, we had no real complaints with the casita and it provided plenty of room for our family of 5.

Stone Rose. The Stone Rose bar/lounge is beautiful and we enjoyed the fire pits and comfortable chairs! We were disappointed the hotel and lounge only offers live music on Thursday nights. We have stayed at other similar hotels in Scottsdale and always enjoyed the nightly live music. Not sure what happened to this at the Fairmont, as they advertise nightly live music but we were told it is now only on Thursday nights??

Spa. The WIllow Stream Spa is awesome. Really enjoyed the waterfall, cold tub/hot tub, steam room, and the roof top pool!

Golf. My boys and I had great experiences at the TPC Stadium and Champions course. Expensive and not something we could do often, but beautiful courses. The hotel offers shuttle service to/from TPC courses and Gray Hawk. The drivers of the shuttles were always friendly and a lot of fun.

We found the staff to be courteous and genuinely interested in making sure guests were having a good stay. We felt the bell staff should be especially commended, as they are great!

My daughter and I stayed at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess for a long weekend in March. The reception area was beautiful and well maintained. We checked in early and our room was not available, so we were given a pool key and enjoyed lunch at the Sonoran Splash. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. We only waited a few hours to get into our room, but it was well worth the wait. It was very comfortable with a large seating area, bathroom, walk-in closet, and patio that looked out to a pond and fountain.

The first night, we enjoyed dinner at the Bourbon Steakhouse. Chef Michael Mina offered unique selections in meals that catered to both me and my daughter, and the staff was excellent!

We spent most of our time by the South Pool and frequently had breakfast and lunch at the LV Bistro. There are also several shops on the property with upscale mens and womens clothing that the staff personally wrapped and delivered to our room.

Dinner at La Hacienda the second night presented us with a fun atmosphere. Definitely try the table side guacamole the flaming dessert.

I would recommend this hotel to families or couples wanting to get away to a warm destination for some rest and relaxation.

I have travelled to several Fairmont properties, and this is my favorite by far. The resort is immaculate with beautiful grounds including a lagoon (kids loved the fishing) manicured gardens and orange and lemon trees.

Lots of activities for kids and lots of quite spots for those on their own. Restaurants are quite pricey, but as expected for a resort of this calibre. However there are a lot of great restaurants within a few minutes drive and good shopping as well. I would recommend renting a car if you stay here so you can take advantage of all that's nearby.

For those comparing hotels for kids waterparks purposes, this definitely a great choice. We had to spend a few days at the Hilton Squaw Peak Resort and it paled in comparison to the Fairmont - the Hilton's waterpark was a hit with the kids but the property is really a motel/inn as opposed to tradition Hilton hotel.
