I stayed at this hotel as a distressed traveler following a day of snafus so it was great to see smiling and warm faces throughout the night.

I was arriving after the evening snacks and hadn't eaten since I got stuck on a plane earlier in the day, so the shuttle driver offered to stop at Jack-in-the Box on the way to the hotel since there wasn't anything within driving distance. While I ordered and wolfed down two tacos for 99 cents he went back to the airport to pick up a couple who had just arrived.

After he picked me up we went to the hotel where I was told I didn't get the coupon I needed to get the distressed passenger rate, but I assume the woman working the clerk saw the exhaustion and distressed look on my face and helped sort it out.

The hotel was very inviting, although it feels very large and loses some warmth. The room was welcoming and clean, although it is nearing the time for an upgrade. Fortunately this is already underway as I noticed signs asking for understanding for the day time construction.

I made a reservation for a ride to the airport the night before and left my hotel room around 4:45 a.m. for a 6:00 a.m. flight figuring it was about 15 minutes to the airport. I was prompt for my shuttle, but the shuttle driver was not. The desk was unattended and so was the shuttle outside. It was a bit confusing, but eventually someone came out so I could check out and the shuttle driver arrived, coffee in hand, a few minutes later.

Chalking it up to the early morning hours, I went solo on the shuttle and we easily made it there in less than 10 minutes and with plenty of time for my flight.

Morning service could have been better, but overall it was a good experience and I'd come again.

Easy access off of I-10, and newly renovated room was nice, bringing room quality up to par with newer Drury Inns, including the one in north Phoenix. Our family enjoyed the large and inviting outdoor pool, and the complimentary dinner and breakfast were very good (outstanding oatmeal!). Depending on your party size and food consumption, you can easily save at least $20-$40 in dining-out costs by staying at Drury.

Several rough edges: 1) We were originally given a room directly across from the elevator bank, despite requesting in writing in our online reservation a quiet room away from the elevator...and reminding the front desk clerk of this request at check-in. (Older Drury Inns, such as this one, have an open atrium from the ground floor to the 6th floor, creating an "echo chamber" effect for guest rooms adjacent to the atrium/elevator area.) Upon revisiting the front desk, we rcvd a satisfactory room--15 mins. after we originally thought we were "checked in." 2) The wall-mounted A/C/heater in guest room blows directly on the face of the person sleeping closest to the unit. 3) Unlike newer Drury Inns, whose lobbies are bright and inviting, the lobby of this one is dark and a bit unwelcoming. 4) Hotel elevators were dirty...they weren't vacuumed or cleaned during our entire stay. 5) Hotel was hosting dozens of motorcyclists staying for Bike Week, which was fine, except for fact that hotel allowed them to park their bikes immediately outside the hotel's covered front entrance, despite ample parking in the parking lot. For hotel guests, this meant navigating through a gauntlet of cycles--some on and rumbling; some not--whenever entering/exiting the hotel. Guests inside the hotel were "treated" to the sound of throttling cycles throughout the evening and into the wee hours (see Drury "echo chamber" comment, above). The "Drury Inn" brand became more like the "Harley Inn."

Until this hotel's management and execution matches the quality of its newly installed amenities, there are many, many other hotels closer to Sky Harbor Airport that likely offer a superior stay experience.

The Drury Inn & Suites Phoenix Airport is a work in progress as you mentioned and we are very excited about how far this hotel has come and where it is going. We are awaiting our new lighting package for the lobby and the finishing touches to the public area spaces. We have just finished paving our new parking area and painting the building, which enhances the new rooms inside the hotel.

The weekend you stayed was the motorcycle rally that is held in Phoenix annually. The city has an additional 20,000 bikers in town for the weekend and most hotels in Phoenix have bikers and enthusiasts as guests. It is a busy weekend for the entire city, but we welcome this group to the area.

We hope that you will return soon to see our renovation completed and experience what is the atmosphere of the hotel. We appreciate your feedback you your business!

Really liked this place - only there for one night for business but very enjoyable. Especially their "happy hour" which included drinks and snacks. They also had some really nice extras - free soda and popcorn near the elevators. Staff was very helpful. My room had a balcony - not much of a view but was nice to sit out and get some sun. They also had a very nice lobby and outdoor area to relax.

The free breakfast was very good.

Would definitely stay here again!

We chose this location for a short trip to Phoenix to visit the zoo and the children's museum. Probably closer hotels to the zoo but we chose a one bedroom suite so the toddler would be able to have a quiet nap while we were in the next room. Efficient check in and we were advised of ongoing hotel renovation which proved not to be an issue on the 5th floor. Toddler loved the elevator with a glass side over looking the lobby area. The suite had a "kitchen area" with tile floor and a small microwave and small fridge. A bar style sink with no stopper. There are no amenities (paper towels, dishwashing soap, kitchen towels) so it really is more like a regular hotel room that happens to have a fridge and microwave. It was obvious the room was newly renovated/updated. Nice furnishings, large tiled bathroom with deep soaking tub, granite counters, flat screens, etc. King bed in nice sized bedroom but no chair although there is room for one and still plenty of room for suitcases. There was also a large walk in closet to the left of the door as we entered the suite and a smaller closet inside the bedroom.
The social hour food - hot dogs, mac & cheese - made the toddler very happy. Free drinks make it more palatable for adults :-) Also, baked potatoes and chili, broccoli soup one night. Menu varies a little bit and 2nd night did not include mac and cheese. The hostess both nights was very cordial and accomodating. Breakfast the 2nd morning took a big hit with a baseball team hitting right before we got there. Eventually everything was refilled and the ladies were hustling to replenish hot items - french toast, scrambled eggs, sausage. There are also 2 make your own wafflemakers. The area for eating is nicely done and usually spacious enough for everyone.
We enjoyed our stay in this nicely updated hotel.

First expereince with this hotel chain and so pleased that we returned on same trip and would highly recommend it for value and location. Renovations nearly completed and we were assigned brand new rooms both times; nicely decorated, roomy and most comfortable with great beds. The free breakfasts, suppers, drinks, popcorn, long distance phone calls, shuttle service that Drury hotel chains provide is a really nice touch. Service was exceptional, friendly and everyone has a smile!!! We were constanly being thanked by all levels of staff for staying at their hotel- from the front desk, to the cleaning staff, shuttle driver, hostess and even the manager who made appearances in the evenings at the supper time event. They obviously take pride and pleasure in their work and support the Drury Management.
