“Think of somewhere else”
Reviewed 25 January 2012

Stayed there this past week (Jan. 20, 2012) while attending a conference and choose the Hyatt because of it's location right across from the Convention Center. When we checked in we were told they could not honor our request for a king size bed, but they would put us on a high floor so we would have a better view. OK, I can live with the two queens. We go to the room and open the drapes to see our view...More hotel highrises and an oblique view of some mountains.
Went back to the front desk and got moved to the opposite side of the hotel on the same floor. Better. But the room itself wasn't anything to write home about. Small bathroom, with no room to turn around, torn shower curtin. The main room had 2 queen beds, a small dresser, a night stand between the beds, a desk, desk chair, and some lamps. Notice anything missing? There is no chair except the desk chair, (which is fine for the desk, but not as the only place to sit for four days. What hotel doesn't supply a chair for their guest?
The linens were old and the towels were frayed and pretty much everything looked old and worn out.
If Hyatt wants to be a destination hotel, they have to improve their image. Simply beacuse they are the closest hotel to a major venue doesn't mean we won't go elsewhere for better accomodations.

Room Tip: Get an east facing room on a floor above 12 or the best views of mountains and the city.

I stayed here on New Year's Eve.

The front desk saw that I am Platinum Hyatt Member and gave me a higher floor room with a fantastic view of the East Valley!!

There were plenty of parties around the hotel but I did not indulge. Stayed in my room watching movies and surfing the free internet (as Platinum member).

The breakfast buffet was very good! I wanted to eat again but I was full. Attentive staff bring your drinks to you, even though they don' t have to because they come with the buffett. I charged it to my room and went back to bed. Gotta have more energy for 2012!

Parking was an issue because I did not want to pay $20 per night. I found a spot across the street and kept it all night. No parking fees on holidays and weekends.

Can't wait to come back to this fine hotel!! (Swimming Pool is outside and unheated.)

I'm usually not a fan of urban hotels, but this one does a pretty good job of creating a resort type feel. The roof top pool is adequate for catching some sun (sun hides behind the tall buildings at around 3:45pm, at least in January. When I think of Phoenix I think hiking. Of course there are no trails in close proximity to the hotel, but the concierge recommended a 6 mile route in the city that extended into some historic residential areas and through a couple of urban parks. Very nice. The route is laid out on a handy map u can fit in your pocket. The beds and pillows were fine for a good night sleep.

Room Tip: If you are looking to sleep in, ask for a room that faces west.

Overpriced hotel in a good location-close to mass transit, cultural events. No microwave, refrigerator or in room safe. Small coffee maker in bathroom and toiletries were good. No airport shuttle and no free wi-fi in the room either. Staff was helpful and efficient. Room was clean, spacious and modern. The Grill restaurant was OK, and the breakfast buffet was fantastic, as were the servers. The Compass Room was open for limited hours. The business area and printer for ease of airport boarding pass printing was useful but expected for this level of hotel. Then there's the cost of parking: $9 to $12. a day. Would not stay here again as there are many other hotels to choose from in the immediate area.

$300 per night for average room. Nice bed, linens, plasma screen TV. Unable to checkout using guest service option on TV. Reasonable TV channel selection, on demand movies. Reasonable toiletries including toothpaste - nice touch. No in room safe, no in room refrigerator or bar. Small coffee dispenser in bathroom. Very, exceptionally small pool, and very shallow. barely adequate to do some lap swimming. I would get rid off the 6 deep access stairs and enlarge and deepen the pool, it is more like a water feature. Really there are a lot of high end hotels to choose from in Phoenix for the price with more to offer. Very friendly and helpful staff. The Grill restaurant was OK, and the breakfast buffet was fantastic, as were the servers. The business area and printer for ease of airport boarding pass printing was useful but expected for this level of hotel. Expensive Wifi by the DEVICE not by the room. I wouldn't return for this gouge alone.
