We absolutely loved this museum. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was blown away. The museum is absolutely beautiful. The displays are incredible, and the headsets that automatically sync to each display are genius. There is a display for practically every country/region of the world! Amazing. I highly recommend this place, you will not be disappointed, even if you are not a musical person.

It was the last day of our vacation and the weather turned cold that day. What a perfect place to visit! It was better than expected. My parents spend the "winter" in Fountain Hills and had already been there a few times and were excited to take us and our 6, 12 year old. Everyone had a great time. The building is beautiful on the outside and in. The displays are wonderful and the audio is womderful. My dad and I loved the John Lennon display and were awed to be in the presents of his piano. A wonderful end to a wonderful vacation.

I was expecting a typical museum with displays to read and scan while doing a lot of walking. It was a LOT more! I was awe struck at the size and presentation.

There are lots of displays of instruments, but instead of grouping as types, they are grouped and displayed as specific to their country of origin. Almost all nations are represented. Another section is special artists of world renown. Another is mechanical instruments. Another is actual hands on playing with various instruments from harps to drums to bells and gongs to even one you play without touching the instrument (it's played by using your hands to alter magnetic fields for pitch and volume).

The method of display is what's so unique. There are plaques and posters to read, but as you walk in you're give a headset to wear. It's not a tape, it's a short range radio receiver. Every display (hundreds of them) has a transmitter that plays the sound track for a video which is playing at each display. Hundreds of videos and audios accompany you as your tour the museum. Instead of just reading you get to watch, listen and experience world music.

Even given 2 hours, we couldn't really see more than about 50% of everything that was there. We finally had to rush through just to see what we'll look for next time we visit Phoenix. I used to live there and this is one of the best attractions in the whole area.
