Patagonia Lake State Park offers swimming on a nice sandy beach, boating, fishing, kayaking and camping. There's area ofers a lot of fun for the family. We stay there for 4 days, camping with tent and fishing. Maybe it was NOT the right time, a group of 6 young people with 6 dogs terrorize our area. The dogs are running free and barking by day and by night. The bad think was: Ranger don't care about!!! Ok, maybe that's short-term of short duration. It was bothering us over 4 days. We go back for camping, hopefully we have a better time.

We visited this state park specific for birding. This is very busy park for other recreational purposes (e.g. camping, picnic, hiking, fishing, etc.) The park has good facilities (e.g. boat ramp, general store, visitor center, a lot of bathrooms, trails, etc.) We only stayed here for a couple of hours but I can definitely see spending the nigh in camp site!

We have been camping here for years and its nice to see that money put back into the area. Would like to see improvements to campsites. Very busy during summer weekends as it is closest lake to swim and fish in the area.

Patagonia Lake is a fun place. Dogs are allowed on leashes. Boats of all kinds can be rented although the prices are hefty- $35 per hour for a 4 man canoe. There is a sandy beach area with a roped off swimming section. This is fun for families.
We rented a boat-in-campsite and then rented a canoe. We packed in our tent and cooler and supplies. It was fun and we boated out to a little camp site on the other side of the lake. I have also brought picnics and used the day use sites. There are charcoal grills and covered eating areas. The lake is often crowded in the summer and many people have motor boats or their own kayaks.
It does cost $20 per car just to get in to the lake, then all the other fees on top of it, so don't think this is a free day out in nature! It's pay to play!

My adult daughter and I went birding here 3 or 4 times, and always enjoyed it. We did not see the Elegant Trogon, but did see many new birds to beef up our life lists.
