A luxurious, comfortable inn, with beautiful grounds, great facilities, a wonderful restaurant and super service.

Room Tip: Casitas are charming!

You know when you go somewhere and you just dont know what to expect and you are blown away? Welcome to the Hermosa... My husband and I needed to get away somewhere hot but couldnt decide where...- Love Mexico but I wondered about Phoenix, maybe a trip to the Grand Canyon etc...Friends recommended hotels there but they had a corporate feel that I just dont like.... So I happened upon the Hermosa Inn on an internet search. I phoned to ask a question and I had the most lovely customer service from Robin. She was so sweet and so helpful that she actually tipped the scale and made us decide to go to Phoenix ( The governor should give this girl a medal! ) Anyway we arrived at the Hermosa and what a delight! The grounds are absolutely breathtaking with gorgeous cactus and desert foilage. Our casita (room 117) was so cute, I wanted to scream...private, romantic and quiet.

The Hermosa was the ranch/studio of a famous cowboy/artist from the 50's and it truly has retained the essence of an era when service and elegance meant something and people took pride in their work...from the top notch service of Norbert in the lovely restaurant Lon's, to personal messages and superlative care from Robin, Jenn and the staff...It was great. So great in fact, that after leaving for a few days to go to the Grand Canyon/Flagstaff , we were booked to stay at a resort in staid Scottsdale but instead, re-booked the Hermosa - we couldn' t risk anything less!

Don't go there expecting some flashy resort, its not that..its a boutique hideaway that is wonderful for lollygagging away an afternoon sipping wine on your patio reading your favourite book knowing you are being cared for by people who give a damn.

Sorry governor, but Phoenix is not my type of city..no real sense of community, you have to drive everywhere - detached and disjointed...but I would go back again for the sun and heat ( we live in rainy vancouver) for the food ( love the mexican) and for the HERMOSA!

PS They leave homemade chocolates on your bed everynight at turndown service(with unique flavours like Fennel and Lavender) and they sometimes have a guitar slinger who sang wonderful southwest folk/country songs that made me smile from ear to ear as I floated in the pool one warm, delightful evening.... God I love being on holiday....

Room Tip: We loved the casitas room 117 or i think 116 and 115 would be great to...Many great, private and qui...

I booked two rooms at the Hermosa Inn for a one night stay for my mother, myself and my daughter. The hotel itself - the grounds, the pool and the restaurant, are quite nice. We booked single rooms but were disappointed that the rooms were a little rundown and the lighting was insufficient. We thought the bathrooms were especially in need of updating. They have other quite private 'Casitas' which might be better furnished, etc. They seem to be catering to couples, so that might have been part of the problem. The pool was completely empty - we had it to ourselves, which was nice.

Room Tip: Try a suite called 'Casitas' - they are private and looked nice.

Who knew that an article appearing in The Tennessean on Sunday, March 18, 2012 about life in Scottsdale, AZ would lead to such a remarkable find?

After perusing the article for restaurants, it specifically mentioned Lon’s at the Hermosa Inn and noted that if you stayed at the Inn to “be prepared for unparalleled customer service”. Our directors and key executives met and stayed at the Hermosa Inn noting that the entire staff “exceeded our expectations”. Anthony Wenzler, the Group Sales Manager, and Robin Finn, Reservations Sales Coordinator, could not have been more attentive and helpful in taking care of all of the arrangements for our meeting, dinner and accommodations.

And we could not forget Executive Chef Pacheco, who not only took the time to prepare a culinary experience for our group, but also explained each delectable course as it was introduced.

As the article stated, this unique boutique hideaway certainly proves that “Scottsdale’s desert life is anything but barren.”

There is much to like about Hermosa Inn. The location is great and the grounds lovely. Stayed in a grand casita with a large living room and large bedroom decorated in a rustic style in keeping with the western ranch house theme of the resort. The newly remodeled bathroom was spacious with a large soaking tub and a large shower. What keeps the Hermosa Inn from being a top flight property are really just small things, easily fixed if management wanted to do so. For example, although the inn encourages reuse of towels, the bathroom has no towel bars. It also lacks a makeup mirror. While there is a nice coffee maker and refrigerator, there are no wine glasses or corkscrew. The closet has limited hanging space. The mattress for the king sized iron bed sagged in the middle. The living room provides a desk in a dark nook without any recessed lighting over the desk. The pool is not large but adequate for the size of the property, but oddly provides no umbrellas for relief from the desert sun. They do have three open sided tents in the pool area, but I found two occupied and one "reserved" but unoccupied. The staff is very friendly but service decidedly quirky. it took three calls to get more coat hangers and two to get the engineer to unclog the bathroom sink. For some reason housekeeping decided to take away the shower gel the last night of the stay (although the generous sized bottle was nearly full). For the price I paid (20 percent off) I was satisfied with the value. If I had to pay the full price, I would have opted for higher level of service at the Phoenician.

Thank you for sharing your comments with us on your recent stay at the Hermosa Inn. The management at the Hermosa Inn is committed to improvement and understands whenever we receive feedback from our guests we need to look at the way we currently serve our customers and understand what needs to be done in-order to improve. You have made some excellent observations and we will look at how we can improve the amenities and fixtures in the rooms and also look specifically at the room you stayed in to see what may need to be updated. We have tried to respond to our guest requests for different options surrounding the pool area and added the pool cabana’s which you mention. We should have made you aware that while staying at the property we could have reserved a cabana to make your time at the pool more enjoyable. We do hope that you will come back to the Hermosa and give us the opportunity to improve upon the areas you found lacking during your last visit.
