No walk ins allowed at Savaii's surfing central any more.

Such a pity as many friends have done so a few years ago and highly recommended a visit and the view through the bars of the gate reveal a nice looking place in front of a myriad of surf breaks.

Unless you are a booked in guest, go to Satuiatua for a quality and friendly surf fales experience.

Agonoa Beach is a beautiful beach for relaxing and surfing. You cannot access the beach for surfing or enjoying it unless you stay at the Agonoa Beach Resort. Contrary to what some of the websites online might represent, as an independent surfer wanting to enjoy this as a surf location, you are not welcome, not even for a fee. The company sent me a long email about safety as the reason but all surfers know the risk. Basically this has become an exclusive surf location for a price. Unfortunately they appear to be the only surf camp on the island so it means you are unable to surf any locations on the island due to lack of local knowledge of the breaks. I was not offered any alternative suggestions by Agonoa Beach Resort for a guide to show me around the breaks. I asked for information to be emailed to me in order to book into the resort but i have received nothing. I was happy to pay for the privilege of surfing Savaii but didnt want to be forced to stay at an expensive resort to get that privilege. Upolu does have a more open approach so after 4 days on Savaii I headed back to Upolu.
