A nice little place across the park with some eccentric food choices, great service and nice ambiance. Went two times during my stay in banos simple because I like it.

As desert, the tiramisu. Just for the presentation.

Probably the best meal and restaurant experience in nearly two weeks of travelling through Ecuador. Superb ambience and atmosphere. All local and Italian dishes were well presented and served at the same time. The chef has a real flare and works local produce with both contemporary and local recipes. Best bit the sublime cheese cake and brownies. Reasonably priced and good service, this place had it all for me. Good work.

We had a brilliant meal here. I had the grilled chicken with mushroom sauce and my wife had the steak cooked on volcanic rock. Both were delicious and one of the better meals we've had in South America. The service was very good and friendly. We'd definitely go back.

We were on a tour and wanted to have lunch with our friends before sightseeing in Banos. The restaurant seemed like an excellent choice for a quick meal. We let our waiter know that we didn't have much time as she was kind enough to advise that paella would take long to prepare. We switched out choices to what she assured would be prepared quickly. Long story short: it took us close to 30 minutes just to get drinks and over an hour to get the rest of the food - and they restaurant wasn't that busy! We were forced to hastily shove the food into our mouths, forgo any sightseeing and apologize profusely to the rest of our tour bus for delayed departure caused by our wait at the restaurant. The most interesting detail: our tour guide also had a meal there, he came after us and left much sooner. To be fair: the food that we were able to consume in gulps and chokes was good and fresh. I've been lucky enough to dine on 5 continents. This place takes the crown for the slowest service and utter disregard to clients' needs!

Hi Marina,
Thank you for your feedback, but as you might have seen, this is not a fast food restaurant.
As you mention in your comment, we cook our food at the moment and it comes out very fresh.
There are diverse fast food restaurants in Baños for you, travellers, who usually are in a rush. We understand the inconvenient caused, but we cannot sacrify quality for a fast service, as our gastronomical proposal is based on very elaborated recipes and a careful presentation of the dishes.
We dont really find fair your qualification, but we understand that in that specific moment your greatest worry was to receive a fast service.
We hope you can come back to Amarelo a day with no rush, so you can enjoy our food,

Kind regards,

Amarelo restaurant

I've paid much, much more for steaks that don't come up to what you get at Amarelo. I visited repeatedly for a tenderloin served sizzling on volcanic stone at under $10. My wife also enjoyed the filet mignon, and I eavesdropped on others raving about the lasagne.
