This is the second time I visit La Leona Petrified Forest. I actually loved doing this for the second time rather than doing the mini trekking on Perito Moreno for the second time. The landscape in the petrified forest (semi-desert), with its rock and sediment formations, fossils, and petrified tree trunks is fascinating. The two-hour hike is wonderful (not recommended for people with asthma, leg injuries, or severe heart conditions); the last leg of the hike is somewhat (mildly) challenging. But it is vary satisfying. The guides are very knowledgeable. The visit is a fantastic complement to the visit to the Parque Nacional Los Glaciares, especially to understand the geological formation of the Patagonian region. Go prepared with layers (the weather can vary a lot, but expect lots of wind and dust), sun glasses, hat, and light gloves. Bring water and lots of sun screen.
