“Huge menu, nice food, ok price”
Reviewed 18 April 2012

This place has two restaurants in San Martin, I believe. One is near the plaza and the larger one is on Villegas. We went (twice) to the second one, since it was closer to our hotel and it looked a bit nicer. The atmosphere might not be excellent, it is one of those huge restaurants, but service is good and they have an English menu (if you need that). The menu itself is huge and offers everything from all the meat you can think of, to pastas, pizzas, and local specialities.

The main dishes are reasonably priced, especially for San Martin. We had the Patagonian lamb for 2, which was very good. The salades are a bit expensive compared to what you get for it. The second time we went, we got the wild boar and deer plates. These were slightly more expensive and maybe not as much as the parrilla meat, but it tasted great, especially the deer.

We found this place to be a good choice in San Martin with good food and fair prices.

“Tango show can do better without the food we had”
Reviewed 4 March 2012

The Tango show that was going on there can do better without the food we had in this place. The Provilone cheese was very good. The chicken not bad. I made a big mistake ordering trout which was over cooked dry and not tasty. The flan was OK. The prices are between 20-50$ per p.

“Good Patagonian Cuisine in San Martin”
Reviewed 13 January 2012

Posta Criolla is a newer restaurant, but with comfortable and attractive appointments. Menu is regional Paagonian, with a good selection of grill. Service is good, Very solid offering in San Martin.

“Good value in San Martin de los Andes”
Reviewed 27 February 2009

There are a lot of restaurants in San Martin de los Andes to suit every budget and taste. One that is full all year and popular with locals is Posta Criolla on Villegas. It is opposite the Cumepen supermarket. They do a variety of dishes well and have both pasta and meat on the menu. The specialty is Patagonian lamb and you can see them cooking in a glass enclosed area from both inside and outside the restaurant. The slow cooking ensures lamb with virtually no visible fat on it. One portion is plenty for two people and comes on a brazier to the table. The waiter will advise you not to have a starter and it is good advice. Your lamb plus a salad is plenty. The pasta dishes are very good and they also do a perfect steak if you feel like something lighter. There is a good selection of wines at reasonable prices. Try a Ventus or Postales wine, both from a Neuquen vineyard.

It is a good idea to book if you hope to dine after 9 pm. Often you will find a table without booking if you turn up at 8 pm, but don't chance it on a weekend. Tables are assigned strictly according to the number of people in your party and you might wait a long time for a table suited to your group to clear. They are open for lunch and dinner.
