This hotel is a nice property and a great value. During our visit, their most expensive room was cheaper than the cheapest room at the Hampton Inn a couple of miles away and I would have to say the the rooms are comparable, having stayed at both.
When we arrived to check-in, the gentleman at the desk asked us to wait so that he could finish up some paperwork. It took about 3 minutes for him to do so. I have to admit that I started to have doubts about this hotel as this is not a great way to start off, but fortunately everything after that went well.
This hotel is less than 3 years old and everything in it is clean, clean, clean. We opted to spend an extra $20 for the deluxe King suite featuring an in-room whirlpool and are glad we did. I was surprised by how big the room was. There were separate flat-screen TVs in both the living and sleeping areas which was a nice touch. The room included all the usual amenities for Comfort Suites - refrigerator, microwave, hair dryer, coffee maker, etc. All rooms are non-smoking. Noise was not a problem, and the Heat/AC worked perfectly.
Lots of mirrors were nice. Carpets in the rooms and halls were clean and there were no musty or chemical odors to deal with. Decorations were tasteful and in good condition.
The bathroom featured granite (or engineered stone) countertops, backsplashes, and shower paneling. There is a tub in the bathroom if you need one. Water pressure was adequate, though not great. Curiously, the shower head did not have adjustable spray patterns - something you normally get at a Comfort Inn. I think the hotel management should re-think that. The shower had a curved shower curtain rod. I saw mounting holes where the previous shower rods were, so these may be recent upgrades and I can't speak to whether other rooms have them. The lavatory is inside the bathroom, so it is out of comission when the bathroom is in use.
The bed and bedding were both very comfortable. But what is up with these mini-pillows? We supplemented the hotel-provided ones with a couple from Wal-Mart on Stapley and then we were fine. Still, this is one area where they might do better.
The 2-person whirpool filled quickly - much faster than we expected and was a nice luxury for my wife and me.
I did not have the opportunity to use the pool, fitness room, or breakfast areas while there.
Location was OK - about 7 minutes to the closest freeway. It would be convenient if your main attraction was downtown Mesa, the Mormon Temple, or a Dairy Queen (next door). But there is not a lot else around there. The neighborhood seemed a bit sketchy, but we felt safe inside the property.
While the hotel normally charges a $1.50 safe "convenience" fee as noted by another rviewer, you can ask and they will remove the charge from your bill. They were happy to do so for me, and they even have a note in the room saying that you can have the charge removed if you don't need use of the safe, so I didn't consider the fee to be a problem.
The only maintenance issue we encountered is that the sink stopper did not work because the rod became detached. That was a minior issue that we reported to the front desk at check out. Everything else slid well, closed well, opened well, or fit well.
