“What a place! Jungle perfection!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 March 2012

This place is idyllic. Surrounded by the jungle the hotel is quiet and tranquil. The rooms are all wooden first story buildings complete with balcony and hammock.
The room was beautiful, large, very clean and a real experience.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the restaurant food and wine was very good.
Great location to explore falls from, organised a return taxi for us for about £25- great service and very friendly driver.
For the price this hotel is fantastic, would highly recommend if you are after a tranquil jungle experience close to the falls at a very reasonable price by European standards

The lodges are clean and functional but the best thing about this hotel is the fact the lodges are placed amongst the trees. There's wildlife everywhere you look (and listen!). The staff are very helpful and accommodating and the dining room has a good menu and range of wines - which is really important because without a car it's really difficult to get anywhere. It's a good place to stay for a couple of nights whilst you visit the falls but any longer and you would probably get bored quite quickly. Fortunately, our travel agent, Imagine Latin America, arranged a fantastic tour for us including a speedboat trip right up to the base of the falls. We got wet but it was well worth it!

Rooms are really clean and functional, but not luxorious. Beds are good. Aircon is quite noisy. If you are looking for something different from the standard hotel, this is for you. Pool area is wonderful. Staff is nice and helpful and most of them speak rather good English. Food in the restaurant is fine. However breakfast buffet is quite limited. Wifi works fine. Best hairdyer ever!!!

Great location. Good connection with the local bus to the Iguazu falls. Downtown is in walking distance, but in the evening take a taxi. It cost only 25 pesos.

Good food, decent rooms, a real jungle experience. A little far away from the Falls, tho, and nothing to do at night, you can't walk anywhere.

Odd customer service
Booking

Found La Aldea in Frommer's-sounded and looked nice. Stayed 3 nights here and our room must have been one of the additions that came after Frommer's reviewed them. We booked a standard room was flanked by two other rooms, so the lighting was not very good and didn't have the private wrap around balcony that was described in Frommer's, though it did have a private balcony. Our room was at the edge of the property, which meant the occasional sound of traffic and dogs which didn't lend to the most peaceful experience during our hammock relaxation. However, the pool was amazing and the property was large enough that you didn't see many other guests.

Customer service was odd. The front desk folks made us feel like we were intruding. They weren't rude about it, but it was like we were inconveniencing them when we needed them to call a cab or ask a question. The other thing was that they assigned us a driver who was very pushy about scheduling things to do that included needing cab. They won't tell you this, but the bus stop is about a 10 minute walk from the lodge. Iguazu is relatively expensive, so if you're trying to save some cash, you can take the bus to the falls and to town for far less than what you'll spend hiring a cab.

Checkout was a bit of an ordeal, because, we booked our reservation online we paid a 10% deposit. When we went to checkout, they didn't have our deposit or our room at the rate that we had reserved it at. Our deposit was never apparently charged. Make sure you have a copy of your reservation information.

Overall, its a good place to stay if you want to get away from the city and are looking for a nice, large space with a jungle feel.

Room Tip: ask for a corner room
