This place is brought to life by the history of its founder and family. The tour was very informative and thorough. Since its the oldest winery in the region and much of the same machinery is still being used, I found this to be one of the more unique wineries we visited in the area.
You can access the vineyard by bike or a long walk if you didn't rent a car. But it's a hit and dusty walk. I still thought it was worth it, even if the tastings were a little skimpier than other places.

The winery is perhaps not the best example of up to date wine making activities, but it is undoubtedly worth the visit because it stands at the heart of the foundation of the town of San Rafael

The story of the family is the story of the settlers who chose to invest their money and know how in these far away lands

The wine we tasted was good, but not extraordinary.

This is an excellent way in which to learn about the founding fathers and the origins of the city of San Rafael (province of Mendoza, Argentina), as well as to see first hand how wine was made by them at that time and is still being produced today. It is a postcard sort of place, nothing too extensive or sumptuous, but most appealing, warm and inviting. The wines are varied, of excellent quality and excellently priced - great value and well worth it. Their naturally fermented champagne, the Brut Nature, is exquisite and among the best bubblies I've had the pleasure to taste and enjoy. I have returned twice and hope to repeat the visit many more times.

This is a winery you must have seen when you are in San Rafael. There are a lot of wineries in this area but this one is far out the most beautiful and oldest. We did the winetour and tasting. We had an english speaking guide and she told us a lot about the history of La Abeja and their wines. We tasted all their wines even the most expensive ones. It was a great experience and we highly recommend Winery La Abeja if you want to vist a winery in Mendoza.

We got there with a small group and arrived just after the last tour of the day had begun. The lady that greeted us, seeing we were really interested in the visit, managed to give us a quick "after hours" tour, with wine tasting and all.
