“Nice hotel, near the Obelisc”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 October 2011

If you need or want to stay in the center of the city (near to the Obelisc and the pedestrian Florida & Lavalle) this hotel is a great choice. It's not extremely expensive and the rooms are great. Not luxurious but with the basic amenities needed. Beds are really confy and clean. Minibar should be improved (you'd better go to the Kiosk right in front of the Hotel). The hotel has a tiny bar in the entrance and a fair restaurant in the -1 floor. I also has a small gym but no swimming pool.

Room Tip: You may want a higher floor room with view to the Obelisc

I was in Buenos Aries for a week and after staying in a cheaper hotel in Palermo, I was looking forward to stay in this more expensive hotel in the downtown area. I was disappointed however. I have asked for a quiet room on a higher floor facing away from the main street with a double bed. Instead I was given a noisy room on a lower floor facing the main street with twin beds - exactly the opposite to what I asked for. The hotel said my room was booked for Double/Twin beds, the hotel therefore had the right to offer me twin beds despite the fact that I have requested for double. OK, consider the lesson learnt and from now on, I will not make bookings that give the hotel that option.

This hotel is one of the very few hotels that still used the bulky old CRT television. Room was very average in terms of furnishings. Blanket was provided instead of doona. Bathroom amenities were just soap and shampoo. No face washers were provided. Neither was tea and coffee making facility, something basic that I would expect in a business hotel. There was no double glazing so I could hear the traffic outside clearly.

The breakfast was cold. There was just cold scrambled eggs and sausages you get sick of them very quickly. However, there was a variety of cakes, breads and fruits.

The hotel staffs seemed to have the longest face in Buenos Aires. Hardly anyone smiled and none seemed to be interested in greeting the guests.

The strong points of this hotel if I have to look for some, are its central location, and generally good sized rooms, but that's just about all. Overall, I did not enjoy my stay in NH Latino and not just because of the single beds, and if it is representative of all the other hotels in the NH chain, I would avoid it altogether in future.

Room Tip: Don't book a Double/Twin room if you want either Double or Twin. You may get an unpleasant surpr...

I had 2 non-consecutive stays at the NH Latino, and the second time I wished I hadn't left for Montevideo between both of them, as my first room was bigger, nicer and overlooking the monolith. But anyway, I really can't complain, because both stays were fine. The rooms are comfortable enough, the staff is very nice and I enjoyed breakfast.

For dinner we chose different restaurants every night, because the best thing about the hotel is the location, right in downtown with shops, restaurants, theaters, etc, a few steps away, and even a convenience store just opposite the hotel.

I may come back to the NH Latino next time I'm in Buenos Aires.

Hotel is OK but would suggest to stay in Palermo - much nicer location.
But if only for one night it's OK. It very close to the obelisk. Not the greatest location to walk around at night but if taking a taxi you can easily get anywhere very easily. We actually stayed a whole week in Palermo and rented an appartment - great thing to do as the neighbourhood is nice - lots of restaurants, bars, etc

The Hotel is very well located, in the very center of the city, just 2 blocks from almost everywhere. You can walk to La Calle Florida, the monolith and many other touristic spots. The rooms are clean and the breakfest is very good. I recommend.
