This place is an experience from the minute that you hit the lobby. Palatial is probably selling this hotel short. It is in a great location, walking distance to Florida St (where you can shop your hearts content) Recoleta is at the end of the street, as is a great park that has a fabulous Sunday market. At the end of the street (park end), turn left there is a range of cafes including a great Brew House.
From the fantastic beds, to the size of the rooms and the bathrooms, there is little to fault here. The staff are prompt, friendly and go out of their way to assist with your stay. The concierge were particularly helpful. There is nothing that has not been said already about this hotel.
My only, less than overwhelming positive thought, is around the butler service for each floor. I only saw them at their desk once and they offered nothing to increase the comfort of my stay- there was no proactive engagement on their behalf. I have been lucky enough to stay in other hotels with the same advertised service and they could teach the Alvear something in this regard.
I would suggest that the hotel either improve this service or remove it from promotional material.
As noted, the only less than perfect observation.
