First time in Olu Deniz and didnt know what to expect from the resort or the hotel. Overall the hotel was very good.

My Girlfriend and I (aged 22-26) stayed at the Karbel Sun for 2 weeks. On our arrival we were offered the safe box (£1 / 3TL per day) and a mini fridge (£3 / 9TL per day) - You do the maths... we declined it, as Turkey and especially Olu Deniz is a safe place. No need for a fridge as we just bought fresh water/juice - its cheaper most places are 1TL for a 1.5litre frozen bottle. We also received our hotel "credit card" - use it when ever you buy food/drink etc at the hotel, you then pay the balance every couple days. Just means you dont need money in around the pool. Be warned can be dangerous, as we had a few boozy nights and used the card for a starter drinks then moved on - we racked up a £72 / 200TL bill - easily done, but we were pretty sensible with it.

When we went into our room we were slightly disappointed - we expected more. The room we got was a first floor apartment; from what we have read are less modern, tatty rooms - we agree. They are basic - dresser table, beds, bedside table, TV, wardrobe, shower and toilet. There is also a mini balcony - used for drying towels etc.

In the morning we went up stairs to the reception area for breakfast - the staff were also warm and welcoming. They all say hello, and chat to you find out where you are from, how long you are staying etc - friendly!!! So the breakfast, we didn't exactly expect full English breakfasts but it was disappointing. There is a selection of breads (white/brown), meats, cheese, olives, tomatoes, cucumbers, watermelon, juices and teas. To be honest it was tasty but I just wanted a bigger selection. There is an a la carte menu - but we never ordered from it, we decided to go and try the restaurants/cafes in Olu Deniz.

The hotel amenities were ok - pool table, pool, pool bar, restaurant and laundry service. We tend to be sea folk and enjoy the beautiful beaches in Olu Deniz, so we avoided the pool. When we walked by heading to the beaches we would glance and we seen the usual - book readers, kids playing etc etc.

On Sundays the hotel has either a BBQ or Sunday roasts for everyone at the hotel to get together, chat, drink the price is £10 / 30TL. We went to the BBQ and it was excellent. We were asked by Mehmet (organiser) if we minded being sat with others - we didn't. We got paired with another young couple and we ended up finishing the BBQ and went out drinking all night - we ended up making some new holiday friends. We had drinks a few times more during the holiday. The food at the BBQ was great - selection of Turkish Mezes, salads etc and the meat was brilliant. There was kebabs etc all very tasty.

The rooms were cleaned daily by the maids and they do a heck of a job. The rooms were clean and tidy with the towels changed twice a week. No complaints!! The beds on the others hand, not as comfy as our bed at home but over the course of the holiday the bed becomes comfortable LOL. The bed cover is like a tea towel... the maid noticed we didn't use it and gave us a sheet instead.

The hotel location is amazing - its right beside the main strip next to all the bars, restaurants, shops. Literally 5 min stroll to the beach and 10-12 min walk to the Blue Lagoon.

As I mentioned at the beginning the staff were so friendly and always happy to help. The staff member who is the "boss" is Mehmet, what a character. He would always ask how we were, what our plans were, what we had done etc - he also arranged a Turkish bath for us at the Belcekiz beach hotel. It cost 56TL / £16 (total cost). The hotel also a dog - the cutest dog ever just strolls about and pretends to guard the hotel. Really good and is not phased by children and people touching it. All the staff are excellent from the reception, restaurant, bar, gardeners and especially the maids.

Unrelated to the hotel, you need to do the following excursions/restaurants/trips:

Paragliding (Gravity) - These extremely professional gliders gave us the best experience we have ever had - we paid £60 / 180TL each - well worth it.

Mud Baths - great day out, the guide, food and experience well worth it. We paid £15 / 45 TL each.
Turkish Baths - price above

Blue Lagoon beach - what a lovely beach - so peaceful, calm and the water is amazing. The view is something from a post card. the Blue Lagoon has an entry fee for adults 5TL / £1.75 and you then need to pay for the sun loungers and parasols (if you want them) they are 18 TL / £5.50.

Hang Out - excellent burgers!!!! enough said the price of the food ranges from 10TL - 45TL / £3 - 15 - yes £15 for a main course... slightly more expensive than other restaurants but well worth it.

HELP - amazing cocktails but also amazing food... again price range is roughly the same. cocktails are 16TL / £5 each

Madras - Indian buffet restaurant - excellent food, service. what else to you want. price was £10 / 30TL.

Had an amazing holiday - i will defo be going back.

I am a Travel Consultant and I have visited many many places around the world. The Karbel Sun Hotel in Olu Deniz is one of top favourites, so much so that I've just booked my 4th visit here! Second visit this year! The hotel is amazing and I've never met such lovely staff and people. They can't do enough for you! I would like to mention Ali the Manager who is one of the nicest men I have ever met. I took my 9 month old baby boy in may this year and was worried taking him away so young! I didn't need to worry! The hotel made sure we had everything we needed and couldn't do enough for us.. The rooms and lovely and clean and everything you could want. The pool area is spotless and the pool is lovely especially on a warm day.. Even a baby pool for the little ones.. The bar and restaurant has been renovated this year and us even better than it was. Comfortable and reasonable prices. The outside dining off the restaurant is stunning in a morning to enjoy your breakfast. Looking out at the stunning view you feel like your a million miles from home and you could be in a 5 star hotel not a 3 star. The location is perfect, hop, skip and jump and you are on the main strip with lovely bars and restaurants. Excellent facilities ie fridge, air con and safes all available. There is nothing more you could ask from a hotel! And I've been to many!!! Please try this hotel and I promise you that you will be hooked just like me and my family! See you in October karbel sun

The Karbel Sun Hotel is a fantastic place to stay. Great location & all of the staff, Mehmet, Young Mehmet, Osman, Henry, Gehgis, Nida, & most of all Suat & Lucky the dog, are all awsome & make your holiday unforgettable & Ali the Hotel Manager is always very friendly and helpful. There was only one bar staff member who really let the team down, Gerry, who was quite arrogant & not customer focused, & was quite abusive to my partner on one occasion, however Ali the hotel manager sorted that out for us immediately. There's always one!! We had one of the so-called dungeon rooms, but it was excellent. Spacious, Bright and airy with a small balcony & comfy double bed with great pillows. Infact I slept better here than I do at home! The only down side to the room is that you have to rent a fridge @ £3 per day & there is no kettle for teas or Coffee. Overall we had a fantastic time and would recommend this Hotel & Resort. We will def be back there!!

Room Tip: Our room was all that we needed as we were never there apart to shower, change & sleep. However...

been back a few days and already looking forward to next visit in sept, hotel just keeps on giving good service, some of the staff are new this year and have fit in with the helpful friendly atmosphere at this hotel very well, took my grandson this time (his 1st time) he loved it had a fantastic holiday. Has had some refurbishment to restaurant- added al fresco area, and bar moved which has really improved the areas and created more space around pool. Everything is so convenient too, dolmus goes from end of street to Hisoronou, Fethiye and beyond, blue lagoon is about 10 mins walk and all restaurants and entertainment just around the corner. I would say the hotel restaurant serves excellent food.

Room Tip: Deluxe rooms are a bit larger and you get a fridge, standard rooms are ample (you dont stay in them...
