My family and I stayed at this apartment for 8 days in early September. I couldn't find any bad reviews of this place just one good review which is why I'm writing this because I know that others must have been disappointed. When we arrived we me Soraia who showed us around. She is helpful. We soon discovered that there is NO air-conditioning. In the blistering heat I was shocked that they just provided 3 small fans which make alot of noise. Even when we opened all the windows we were blasted by the most horrible stink of sewer from the marina. also they have still king bins right down from the apartment which smells like dead cats. The heat in the apartment is oven like. So uncomfortable that we had to start sleeping on the Terrace at night. We still got the stink of the marina. Don't be fooled by thinking the stink is the sea. No no,with a little research you'll know that Ohlao has the worst sewerage problem. But enough about that, what about the cockroaches!!! Yes on the Second night we realised we had large house guests who scuttle along in the dark. They lived mainly in the toilet vents which made it stink. I really hope they print this review. I would hate for others to be in a similar situation. I'd only recommend this property if you like living in an oven. You love the smell of rotten eggs and you study the formation of cockroaches. Also there's a noisy building site next door and very loud bars. Good luck getting sleep. My advice? Spend your money elsewhere.
Very happy with the service from the moment we booked via website to the day of arrival. Response times were excellent and it was nice to be met by Chris at our accommodation. He spent some time showing us around and explaining a few things. We chose this apartment for its situation close to Faro but away from the hotel complex of the West Algarve.it also has a roof terrace with a bbq so we sat out and enjoyed the views of the sunset in the evening. Olhao is by the harbour and has a great fish market. Nice bars to sit out and enjoy the sun. We hired a car at the airport without any hassle before or after. This enabled us to explore further afield. We enjoyed visiting the nature reserve Ria Formosa. We went to two parts of it, Pioneiros de marim and Quinta do Lago. Within 30 mins or so drive. Great for bird watching. The beach at Faro Island is great. We drove but you can also take the ferry there from Olhao for about 4 euros. We hired kayaks there for 2 euros which was great fun. Found it relatively easy to find our way around with sat nav on phone. Would recommend a Japanese restaurant in Faro. Eat as much as you like from a large choice of dishes including sushi for 12 euros. It's called Osaka. Avenida da Republica Street. It's probably worth booking in advance for an evening meal as it gets busy. Altogether a great holiday for our first visit to Portugal. Will definitely come again.
