We spent 6 days at Aquaria in March just prior to the call for Australians to return home. We stay in hotels all over Bali and we keep returning to Aquaria as it is such a special place run by really delightful people. It was our eighth visit!
It has a tranquil 'zen' quality about it and there was no better place for us to be as we faced the daunting COVID situation. Toris, Wayan and all the staff make us feel so very welcome. We've never encountered a dissatisfied customer there. All seem to quickly become devotees.
The rooms have an honest charm about them and being able to sit on the veranda and watch the passing parade of ferries, fast boats and traditional boats is so relaxing. Equally, reclining on a lounge around the pool or in a bean bag just metres from the water is really soothing. The pool itself, which most rooms overlook, is also tranquil, refreshing and fastidiously maintained.
We eat in house most of the time - pumpkin soup, samosas and mahi-mahi our favourites. Very reasonably priced, as are the drinks.
The new development Splash! oceanfront dining is a great innovation that allows Aquaria to make full use of its location directly on the water. Sunsets there are very romantic. The poolside restaurant remains an attractive all-weather alternative on wet season storm nights. And of course Vincent's is close handy for a special night...We spent 6 days at Aquaria in March just prior to the call for Australians to return home. It is a great restaurant by any world standard.
Did I mention the very skilled massages in the most serene little spa lulled by the hypnotic lapping of waves on the reef?
There is plenty to see and do within striking distance of Candi Dasa for the first time visitor, easily accessible with a driver (Try Wayan Ninja) or a traditional boat to White Sand Beach. There is also a number of really nice restaurants once you've been to Vincent's a few times (especially on Jazz Nights). And the hotel will arrange for a traditional boat to pick you up right out front for snorkelling near the off shore islands or further afield at Blue Lagoon.
