“Great hotel and service shame about the food and the coffee”
Reviewed 7 June 2012

Had a wonderful 4 day break at the hotel. The room was perfect, service excellent and staff very friendly. Good pools although shame no pool area just for adults.
Coffee is absolutely terrible sadly.
Food area feels a little like a school canteen and could do with a bit more separation of restaurants.
Food itself is ok but not brilliant. Goan restaurant has only frozen fish inspite of wonderful fish being available locally. I would not bother with the signature Goan fish curry
Masala restaurant ok Indian food but not very inspiring
Italian pizza restaurant - food simple but good.
Nearby spice exotic restaurant is excellent and at a fraction of the price of the hotel provides much better Goan food - venture out and enjoy!
Concierge not desperately helpful with car hire etc - just provided one phone number rather than help

Dear lazybili,

Greetings from Park Hyatt Goa Resort and Spa!

Thank you for your candid review of your stay with us. I am deeply disheartened to know that we were unable to meet your expectations and provide you with an experience that is testimony to the Park Hyatt brand. Thank you for bringing the discrepancies with regards to the breakfast buffet and food to my attention, I have raised these concerns with the respective departments for improvement. I assure you, I personally ensure that all our staff undergoes corrective training on a regular basis. Thank you once again for your feedback and I do hope you will visit again and give us another opportunity to serve you.

Kind Regards,

Firstly remember you are at a sea side resort and you will appreciate the understated luxury that this resort extends. The entire place is built to merge in with the feel of the city. the staff is inconspicuous yet caters to all your needs and the resort boasts of a pvt beach with a restaurant which is priced steep. it extends a complete resort experience without the need to step out.good experience. special note: they had confirmed if it was a occasion travel and when i mentioned it was my daughters birthday gift they had a spl cake nd goodie box waiting in the room for her. loved the touch.

Room Tip: take the ground floor rooms

Last Christmas I took a seven day holiday at the The Park Hyatt spa hotel in Goa.

As I have a holistic approach to life I asked my husband to go to a Spa hotel rather than our traditional beach holiday. It proved to be the best holiday we’ve ever had and I benefited from a relaxing state of mind and body together with the glorious sunshine and the beautiful Goan cuisine.

My husband and I have travelled extensively, but this was the first time we have visited a Spa Resort and it made an interesting change. I booked the holiday through Flight Centre East Sheen and the great service and friendliness started before even going away. Robyn from Flight Centre found us the the luxurious hotel, set in sixty-four acres of manicured gardens and carefully designed lagoons, pools and restaurants there was a strong impression of space and quietness. The facilities and attention to detail in the beautiful rooms was everything you would expect from a sophisticated 5 star resort with a wide range of relaxing treatments to choose from at the Spa and expert tutorage in the Yoga classes. I took 3 private Yoga classes for the price of one private class in the UK and I could see a change in my body and suppleness in few days. I felt clearer and more focused and my appetite changed.

Stayed here for 5 days in February 2011. A fantastic place to stay and relax. The property has well laid out lawns and an excellent pool. The pool rather dominates the view when you proceed to your room. And you will encounter it daily since it separates the living area where the cottages are located from the restaurants and other facilities. They have 2 tiered cottages and since we were 2 families, we took the ground and first floor. You get the option of an open roof bathroom with the ground floor room and the upper storey comes with a great balcony and a bathroom which can be converted to a mini swimming pool which your kids would love. Wonderful wooden ceilings add to the feeling of luxury and the beds are heavenly. A coffee/tea maker with all the trappings is provided. The rooms on the whole, are clean, useful and comfortable. Just what you'd expect from Hyatt. The staff are a delight. Very friendly and co-operative, cheerful and willing to help you at all times. The hotel has its own private beach with wonderful sand and deck chairs. Goa, mainly the North, is filled with beaches. But most of the beaches in North Goa are so crowded that you are afraid to step on them. This bit of the Arrosim beach that belongs to the resort is just heavenly. Secluded and with powdery white sand, you can relax on the deck chairs or go for a great swim. To either side of this beach (which is really a demarcated length of land on the beach strip) you have food shanties. Am told these serve great non-veg food but since I am a veggie, this area was a no go. Just a heads up for people with more varied taste buds than mine - you do not have to depend on hotel food which is very expensive. A couple of things you should be aware of if you are trying to book a package at this hotel is to ensure that you get free breakfast and also free wi-fi (in case you are so inclined) as part of your package. Regarding cabs, the hotel has its own travel desk and the rates are high but not frightfully so. You also have the option of engaging private cabs which are available in plenty just outside the hotel gates (you can find these local drivers lounging around on chairs outside the gate) and they will be available for about 2/3rd of the hotel rates. Hiring self driven cars (which is very popular among tourists visiting Goa) will not work since all the guys hiring out cars are located in North Goa and this hotel is in South Goa. Something to do with the South Goa drivers damaging your hired vehicles in the parking lot, was what I was able to gather. The hotel also has a spa (reputed to be the biggest in Asia or some such thing) but since I went nowhere near it, I can't really tell anything about it. Goa has plenty of places that you might want to see and your days are likely to be filled with doing just that. However, do try to set apart a day for just staying in the resort and enjoying its facilities. The food, though expensive, is very tasty and should be relished. On the whole, an unforgettable experience to stay in this property of Hyatt.
