Celebrating a birthday with 8 was the occasion - being Stellenbosch residents we eat out in Stellenbosch often - this was our first to Stellenbosch Kitchen.
A real mixed bag of comments and responses - everyone agreed that the service and friendliness was exceptional, comparable with any top restaurant.
Food quality, taste and presentation fluctuated - some exceptional, some not so great. The mains including steak, rack of lamb, lamb shank and some starters ceasar salad, calamari, tempura prawns were all exceptional.
Some dishes however just did not step up to our expectations- mushroom risotto and vegetarian brinjal burger were not great - risotto was a little sloppy and the brinjal burger was not well cooked plus was cooked in a deep fry batter - pity as it really looked great.
The wine list is great - plentiful for all palates.
The ambiance, decor and environment is good.
Prices range on the high side - ‘fine dining’ restaurant level.
We will be back to give it another try.
