Most people will probably warn you that Spier is a tourist trap that locals avoid. Although this is partially, true, I actually want to recommend Spier for locals as well. Fantastic wines are served in a tranquil setting and Spier is very much focused on caring for the environment and uplifting local communities. Eight restaurant serves fantastic home-grown fare.

However, I can really not recommend the Moyo establishment that is also on the Spier premises. Overpriced and overrated; food is average and the service is poor. The tree house tables are nice, but hardly worth the money.

We came here for lunch at Moyo and stopped by, I loved all the little market like tables with the random things you can buy. We went to go an see the leopards which was really nice and the people were very friendly and informative

Apart from wine tasting there is not much spier offers .however there is a beautiful garden and pond with birds and ducks which make it a perfect place for a picnic . The shop sells all the requirements for a perfect picinic but it is slightly over priced and the downfall of the estate is that you cannot bring your own food which sucks -everything has to be bought . On a summers day its a lovely spot to chill and stroll and if you are an avid wine taster even better also if you can afford a meal at the restaurant its a great experience . Remember sun hats cause when its hot its really hot :)

Spier of course is a famous destination and a must see! The birds of prey and the big cats add a extra touch and it was interesting to see the whole estate. The only draw back is that it is very "touristy" and aimed at foreigners, so if you are looking for a authentic winelands experience it isn't the place for you. Over all it was a good visit, the staff are friendly and there are many things going on so there's something for everyone to do. The Moyo restaurant is great, a must see , but a bit over rated, it has a wonderful ambiance though! The wine was delicious too
