This farm house is situated just outside Paarl. In fact it seems to be in the middle of Paarl and Wellington. Only 60km from our home in Blouberg you feel like you are miles and miles away from home in the middle of nowhere.Bryan booked us a five night stay and we invited a couple to join us for two of the nights (the house sleeps 6) and they landed up staying 3 nights. We booked for 5 nights and stayed for 6 which says it all. We didn't want to leave. In fact we would have stayed longer if we could have.
The scenery is amazing, surrounded by beautiful dams and mountains. I was in my element to discover that the farm has many well looked after horses, cows, an ostrich, maybe more. We had been keeping an eye on a pregnant mare and not knowing much about horses didn't know she was close to foaling. To my delight she foaled VERY close to the farm house two nights before we left. It was amazing to see. I believe she has been named Galhia Storm.
The house itself is very spacious with an extremely well equipped kitchen, including a washing machine and dish washer. There is even an "emergency honesty box" with items that you may run out of and you simply help yourself, mark off what you have taken and pay on departure. This even includes a few bottles of vino and beers. There were beautiful rusks that we could help ourselves to as well as tea, coffee, sugar and milk, often things you forget to take with you. There is a huge supply of wood for the fire place which can be replaced when needed.
The rooms are big (two en suite) and the beds extremely comfortable. I wish I could have brought ours home!!
The owners give you your space, but are right there when/if needed.
To wake up to the tranquility of the surroundings is absolutely amazing and we will be going back soonest, for sure.
This country farm house is honestly not one to be missed and extremely affordable.
HUGE THANKS to Jacomi, hubby and Megan.
