Arrived at 5.45pm and requested a table on the ‘front’ as they provided cool air. We were told in no uncertain terms by Ernest that every single table was booked (nobody seated at them) and only 3 out of the 7 tables stated reserved. Ernest knee that we were really warm and wanted the benefit of some air but did nothing to accommodate us. We ordered drinks prior to food and as the drinks arrived Ernest made an ill judged comment about the son having the hot drink and I must be a cool mum as I had wine. I looked at him in horror as he insulted my fiancé and I. With no idea of the faux pas he had made, he blundered on oblivious asking did we wish to order food. At this point I asked to speak to the manager who apologised on behalf of his waiter and suggested we return the following day with the promise of a ‘proper waiter’. Needless to say, we didn’t bother.
