This charming small hotel features quietly elegant and comfortable public spaces,a courtyard with chaise lounges and a plunge pool, and an array of unique guest rooms. We chose a room with a balcony and thoroughly enjoyed the views of Table Mountain. The staff make a big difference at this hotel: they go the distance to make it the visit you envisioned. The hotel breakfast is excellent, and being able to walk to a variety of really good restaurants for dinner was the icing on the cake.

The Welgelegen is a very pleasant hotel with a very friendly and hellpful staff. The rooms in the main building, where we stayed are spacious and well-appointed. The breakfasts were very good. There are several excellent restaurants within easy walking distance. The only caveat is that we have no first hand knowledge of the rooms in an adjacent building so would recommend that you request one of the five rooms in the main building.. Wine and beer were available for purchase in the evenings along with free nuts and cookies.

We did our game drives and had our share of wildlife and vineyards the last two weeks. We ended our trip in Capetown and I could not think of a better place to spend our last days!!! Great service (all is possible and they all are willing to assist), good breakfast and a great room!!! Tip: room 3 is excellent!!! We hope to come back (soon)!!! Thanks!!!

We stayed at the Welgelegen on a visit to Cape Town. The hotel offered a quiet and homey refuge at the end of the day, friendly and helpful staff and a generous and lovely breakfast to start the day. It is a guesthouse comfortable and well appointed environment rather than a luxury hotel. I would recommend this for travelling couples or individuals rather than business travellers. When we were there the spring winds of Cape Town were blowing. While we had a good view of Table Mountain, the winds made our rooms noisy, Pick a room in the main house if you have a choice

Stayed at the hotel in a group of 4 for the first 5 days of our SA holiday. All agree, simply brilliant. This is a Boutique Hotel, not the usual sanitised corporate dormitory. It is full of character, has very nice, well presented and clean rooms and comfortable public spaces. Here you can sit and chat or read making use of the free library of books and magazines and of the DVDs which can be borrowed and watched in each room. We arrived late and were cheerfully met by the courteous and very helpful Albert. He gave a full explanation of all of the hotel facilities and of the “routine”. The following morning the breakfast staff were again very courteous and helpful. It’s a buffet supplemented by either a “full English” or eggs cooked to order. The cook was especially accommodating. The Manager, Karen, was also very welcoming and helpful. Overall this was a very good experience, highly recommended. The hotel is quiet, comfortable, safe and well situated. We’ll be back!!
