Situate on the banks of Table Mountle lies a Memorial to a great Man, onewho was revered but is now forgotten. The steps up to the statue are awesome and lead to a fantastic statue. From the top, one can see the whole of the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town, particularly Groote Schore where Rhodes himself lives and built a place for others, a legacy. Today, it still stands open to the public and is an adornment to the Cape and to Rhodes. One cannot wondder at the magnifience of the Memorial and those who visit are struck by his gradioise. He was truly a great man, from Cape Town to Kimberly to Johannesburg to Rhodesia. What a great man and what aan effigy. May he never be forgotten.

It's a lovely monument to a conflicted icon of educational endowment. He was generous with his money, but supported apartheid in his time. We visited shortly after students staged protests over steep university fee hikes; during the protests, the statue of Rhodes was vandalized, and now old Cecil has no nose.

What a pleasure to have a seat looking out over the city on a sunny winter's day in Cape Town. A great place also from which to take a long or short walk on the mountain, and to enjoy the fine cuisine with a view at the restaurant.
